when surfing and i page back i land not on the last page of my search but it returns to the 1st page

When I do a web search, I'll go to one of the sites. When finished I return to the previous page (search results page) by using the back button. I briefly land on the last page search page (i.e. page 4 for example) nad then it jumps back to page one. I then have to reload page 4 again and renew my search from that point.
