My Thunderbird upgraded and my 1 of my 2 emails accounts stopped working due to a change in password security. (GMAIL). I saved my profile and unistalled TB and installed a older version hoping this would work . However after copying and paste my old profile over the new profile it stated "profile data were no longer compatible with the older version and to create a new profile".

I did not want to do this. So I kept my old profile uninstalled again and reinstalled the latest TB back again only to find when i copy and paste my old profile it now is no longer compatable with this version either .

How do i get my profile to work again? (even if it means just the one email account works).

re :My Thunderbird upgraded and my 1 of my 2 emails accounts stopped working due to a change in password security. (GMAIL). I saved my profile and unistalled TB and installed a older version hoping this would work . It will not work on any version because it is Gmail who made the changes. You will have to make the necessary changes - enable cookies in Thunderbird - set Authentication Method: OAuth for both incoming and outgoing important both are done at the same time - restart Thunderbird and enter password at prompt in the google window.

re :now is no longer compatable with this version either . What exactly have you got saved - it is just the 'profile name' folder or the entire 'Thunderbird' folder that contains the Profiles' folder?

In the saved 'profile name' folder there is a file called 'compatibility.ini' You can open it using a text editor like Notepad.

It will say something like this: [Compatibility] LastVersion=102.1.2_20220808204007/20220808204007 LastOSABI=WINNT_x86_64-msvc LastPlatformDir=C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird LastAppDir=C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird

What does your 'compatibility.ini' file say ? Post the info in this forum.

Hi many thanks for your reply. The profile i saved was the entire contents and I moved this to a back up folder. I tried to copy and paste over new profile FROM THE NEW INSTALL and it stated profile no longer compatible. Even though this was the newest version of TB.

[Compatibility] LastVersion=103.0.2_20220808125904/20220808125904 LastOSABI=WINNT_x86_64-msvc LastPlatformDir=C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox LastAppDir=C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\browser

re :LastVersion=103.0.2

That is not the latest release. The latest release is version 102.1.2 https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/

Actually you have not even posted Thunderbird information. You have gone into your FIREFOX Profile and posted info on Firefox.

You need to post the information for THUNDERBIRD

What does it say in the 'compatibility.ini' file located in your backup of Thunderbird profile name folder ?
