Can I stop redirects in Firefox Android. I have tried several suggestions including clearing all my personal data, private data, cache, Etc. My last resort seems to be to be to uninstall reinstall Firefox Android.

Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi DoctorP

Do you have any add-ons installed in Firefox for Android, or other apps recently installed on your device?

Hello Seburo:

Thanks for you quick reply. I have not added any new Android apps. I have added the Firefox add-on Ublock Origin which seems to have taken care of some. Nonetheless I am still getting redirects which start from belombrea.com.

Using Firefox | App info | Force Stop seems to slow it down but is inconvenient to use.

Thanks again. Back to you.

Hi DrP

Just so I understand this, what do you mean by a "redirect"?

I just want to be sure of what you are seeing.

Hi Seburo:

Thanks again for the quick reply.

Here's what happens:

  1. Without doing anything myself, a new tab spontaneously opens with a link to belombrea.com.
  2. That website then redirects to other websites like CashCabin, FacebookSpin, etc.

It all happens so fast I can't stop the redirect from loading.

BTW...I am trying to determine if the misbehaving program is inside Firefox or somewhere else in the system. I made Chrome the default browser and so far the belombrea.com request has not appeared, in Chrome or Firefox, even though Firefox is still running. I suspect the culprit is buried very deep inside Firefox.

Your thoughts?

Thanks

Hi Seburo:

Update on my investigation...

For the last 24 hours, I have had Chrome set as my default browser. There have not been any spontaneous/spurious requests to load belombrea.com. This tells me several things:

  • The cause is NOT elsewhere in the system beyond Firefox OR,
  • Chrome somehow ignores the request to open belombrea.com.

I have just reset Firefox as my default browser. If the belombrea.com calls return I'll know the offending software is somewhere in Firefox. If that is the case, it will be almost impossible to track down the source, which I believe will then necessitate uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox.

Back to you.

Hi DrP

I cannot open that page in Firefox for Android either. If this was something that was somehow "in" Firefox, this would be reported by many people and as far as I am aware you are the first.

Hi Seburo:

Please excuse the delay in responding to your last post.

The links being sent to Firefox contain way more information than a simple https://belombrea.com. However, they are processed so fast I can't copy the starting URL to belombrea.com.

The following is from https://adware.guru/how-remove-belombrea-com/#remove-from-android:

Stop Belombrea.com redirects: If Belombrea.com is opening up on new tabs in your browser every now and then, that indicates you have adware. Probably one on the apps you installed lately is triggering these pop-ups. Uninstall recenly installed and questionable apps you have. Alternatively, usage Loaris Trojan Remover or one more anti-malware tools to check your device for malware.

Pop-ups and ads on Android may also not be caused by anything set up however originated from sites instead. To get rid of those ads, you can utilize an Trojan Scanner.

I have tried Trojan Scanner and it found nothing.

I'm stumped...and very annoyed!
