Some sites use mouseover which is not possible on touch devices. So I suggest to add the event into the long press menu.

Hi cydaan
Thanks for the suggestion. This kind of thing is problematic because it's not an easy thing to implement. I believe the best thing is for sites to be coded in a way not to depend on mouse over when they are used on a mobile device without a mouse (which is how most modern websites are coded)
Cheers!

Chrome for Android has the same problem as Firefox.
I recently used an iPad for the first time and I noticed Safari for iOS seems to have the ability to detect when a link or element containing a link has a hover behavior and the first tap emulates hovering, while a second tap clicks the link. I don't know whether that establishes any kind of industry standard, but it seems like a good approach (I have no idea how hard it is to implement).
I agree that it would be the best but unfortunately not all website owners have recognized that or do not want to pay for a new website soon. Mouses have been the common HID for years so I think mobile devices should be able to deal with those websites. I think jscher2000's approach is very good, too. I guess most of the needed code is already finished because the desktop version can use the mouse over event, it is just the decision to call the click or the mouse over event, that is missing, isn't it?
