We are using CRM internet system as quoting tool. There is a function (button) to create quotes as pdfs. Internet explorer has no problem with this function, however, firefox does not support it. There is no error message, nothing happens after clicking on it. There is no problem with exporting reports to excel or opening pdf files. This is the only problem that occurs. I don't seem to find anything in the settings. From what I understand the file has something to do with .aspx. Please let me know if it's possible to adjust firefox as I'd prefer to use it over chrome or IE browsers.

My guess is that the PDF is generated on the server and returned to the browser. If the feature relies on a local control, then it might be an IE-only (e.g., ActiveX) function. Do you know whether other Firefox users have been able to use this feature?

If it's just a problem with your Firefox, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Then try reloading the page. Does that make any difference?

Thanks a lot but this a general Firefox problem, not only mine. In fact I just got a new PC and everything was installed new :) Either firefox does not support this function at all or there's something in the settings which I am not aware of.

Can you say which CRM system it is? If it's a widely used application, maybe others could share their experiences with it. First, perhaps, it would be useful to get the vendor on the record about whether they think it is supposed to work in Firefox. Has anyone at your organization checked with them on that?
