When is Mozilla going to bring out an update for 5.0 to make it compatible with McAfee?

more options

I keep getting prompted to install the latest version of Firefox, but when I try I get told that it's incompatible with Mcafee. No way I'm going to mess with my security, so until you guys fix the problem the latest version is a no go. Is there anyway to stop being nagged to install an incompatible version of Firefox?

There is nothing for Mozilla to fix. It is up to the developer of each add-on to keep their stuff up to date with Firefox, and to fix their add-on when it causes problems with Firefox, which forces Mozilla to add it to the blocklist as happened with the McAfee Site Advisor and Firefox 5.

SiteAdvisor 3.4 is now available which should fix it for FireFox 5.0.

Wrong attitude! If you bring out an update that is incompatible with existing software, it's your responsibility to fix it.

I guess I'm going to have to stop using Firefox, which has been my preferred browser since it came out.

Attitude has nothing to do with it. The reason the McAfee Site Advisor 3.3.1 was disabled in Firefox 5.0 is because it was crashing the Firefox 5.0 betas.

Mozilla notified McAfee long before Mozilla put that add-on on the Blocklist, and McAfee decided it was time to come up with a new re-written add-on for Firefox.

I am a user just like you, and I could honestly care less if you use Firefox or not. That doesn't change whose responsibility it is for keeping their stuff up to date with Firefox, and to fix their stuff when it breaks or it breaks Firefox.

I'll say it again - there is nothing for Mozilla to fix with regards to McAfee add-ons.
