Printing and graphic acceleration

When printing: FF transfers the data as an image if the Graphic Hardware Acceleration is activated (as default). This is not a good thing when e.g. printing to a pdf document (the file size is too big).

Is there any other workaround than deactivating the Hardware Acceleration? Does the Hardware Acceleration benefit in other ways (meaning that the deactivation isn't a good choice)? (FF 4.0.1, Win 7 64-bit SP1)

In future versions of FF this printing as an image could be a printing option (maybe separately for different installed printers)?
