How can I import and export bookmarks using a local *.html file in Firefox for Android?

There seems to be no way to transfer information into or out of Firefox for Android without transferring to and storing that information on someone else's server - "Sync". I searched in Mozilla support and have searched for addons and Google Play apps, but Firefox for Android doesn't seem to have any import / export function.

After reading the Privacy Notice of Firefox cloud services, I do not want to store my information on Firefox cloud services. Is there any other way to get information from the computer to the phone?

hi timzw, i know of no other way than firefox sync to export bookmarks from your android device (i also found no addons that would do it in a quick search).

i have also just read the privacy policy in regards to sync and was a bit surprised as it sounded like you would providing all that data to mozilla in clear text - which is actually not the case. firefox sync is end-to-end encrypted and a key derived from your password is the ONLY way to decrypt your password, so mozilla doesn't have access to any of your data either. this is explained in some technical detail at https://github.com/mozilla/fxa-auth-server/wiki/onepw-protocol

I'm trying to do the same thing for a different reason (Deprecated Sync account I no longer have access to + Tablet has quit connecting to wireless. I need to reinstall Android but don't want to lose all these bookmarks)

I've tried approaching this from a half dozen ways at this point and have been blocked at every turn - I'm really confused as to why this should be this difficult.

Can't access the data folder without root, Can't install an XPI locally, Can't access the chrome page,

What happened to the open friendly firefox I used to love and y'know. actually have control over?
