At work, before I had issues with Firefox and had to reset to fix, when I would click on a hyperlink that would point to a new window would appear and I can open new tabs with these windows. Ever since I reset when a new window opens I am unable to create a new tab, is there a a setting I can change to put that option back?

Computers at work are running Windows 7 with the latest version of Firefox.

Sounds that you are working in a pop-up window.

Can you open a new window via Ctrl+N?

If that works then delete the other window.

You can also try to rename (or delete) the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

Thanks for your reply. It is opening a pop-up window, but before there was something that was making open in a new window that I can open tabs with. Basically what I am trying to do is keep organized with my tickets and keep tabs with relevant research to the specific job together. When I open a ticket it opens in a popup window. Before I was able to have tabs when I would open a ticket now it's a plain pop-up window.

Does the Ctrl+T shortcut work to open extra tabs in that pop-up window?

Just to step back and describe what Firefox does if you haven't customized it.

Opening a new window (e.g., Ctrl+n or Shift+click a regular link) will open a full-featured Firefox window with a single tab for the page you're viewing, and a new tab ("+") button next to it on the tab bar.

If the link you are clicking runs a script, the script may open the window with limited features, including no tab bar, no menus, etc., just the site address and the page.

Are you seeing something like the second description?

After a reset, Firefox creates an Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop containing your old profile. That would have your settings and add-ons. Can you find that folder? Unfortunately the contents can be difficult to sort out from disk files alone, but we could help you look through it and try to make sense of it if you still have it.
