My firefox icon has been renamed wlwal. When I change it back to firefox, the next time I open it there is a delay and it's been renamed again. What is this?

It is possible you have a virus on your PC. Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Download and Run TDSSKiller http://support.kaspersky.com/faq/?qid=208283363

Download and Install Microsoft Security Essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/security-essentials (not an official endorsement, but I personally recommend MSE as an awesome permanent anti-virus)

Double check for all Windows Updates.

Also, what security system do you use? There are some that can prevent changes to a computer.

You can try to set the icon properties to Read-only to prevent such a change.
