re-install FF 7 (also tried FF10) after 9 kept suddenly hanging - now none will run at all when click on icon

After much hanging, suddenly, on FF9 I tried ALL the options on the Help pages for hanging and crashes. No luck so asked a techie (non Mozilla) who suggested unistal and reinstal - did that, and evenr since then I cannot get any version to FF to run (tried FF 7 and FF 10 (uninstal/reinstal fresh, not from saved download). Also ran Avast virus scan, used Ccleaner to completely uninstal and even wipe old/unused registry paths... Still cannot get anything to run even though the icons are visible on Desktop and Quicklaunch Plus file in All Programs. Been trying Chrome but want to stay with FF if possible

Try removing the Firefox program folder and then installing the latest version - Troubleshoot and diagnose Firefox problems

I had uninstalled FF several times - assumed that deleted the FF folder in Program Files. Found problem was that when FF was downloaded for some reason it did not have the .EXE extension on the firefox file in the program... I added the EXE and then ran the file - all sorted but staying away from V 9 and 10 until all is clear as too much bad press on forums
