how do i get rid of the "open with" box?

i click on the icon for firefox, and a box pops up before the internet browser and it says "open with". there are a lot of options and i choose firefox. Then the internet browser shows up but with a blank page, not google (my normal browser). How do i get rid of the "open with box" so it takes me straight to the internet
