This all started after I had a problem installing flash on ie. I was getting a getplus r has stopped working crash while installing flash for ie. So then I saved the flash install file to my desktop and tried installing it that way. When I stalled it listed Firefox as the browser probably because Firefox is my default browser. I went ahead and installed it anyway, even though flash was working on Firefox, because I was trying a million different things to get flash on ie. Well ever since I did that Firefox will not open. I don't know what else I can remove without uninstalling windows. I finally did get flash to work on ie, but I have since uninstalled it too trying to get Firefox back on..

please anyone?

ok I was able to intall 3.6 but when I went to upgrade to 4 it went back to the same problem

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)

Well I tried deleting the profile in 3.6 and then upgraded to 4 but still no go

I still have this problem. Here is the process monitor’s logfile of when firefox loads and crashes

Just an update I called Microsoft because the same problem was causing my security updates not to install either and after getting transferred 5 times and having some Indian guy take control of my computer for 3 hours he fixed it. When I asked him how he did it he said he used some Microsoft magic. The problem was with the self extraction of the files. I wish I could explain further.
