What is causing Firefox to keep crashing? I have followed all the suggestion as to plug ins and virus protection. I have used Firefox for a long time.

About a week ago, Firefox started crashing. This usually happens when I am not on my home page. A window appears and asks if I want to restart or leave Firefox. This window also says that I can send info but when I click on restart.
