When I backup my profile, should I ignore the old files or overwrite it?

more options

I backup my Firefox profile on G. Drive (encrypted). It takes HOURS to copy the whole profile folder (bad internet). When I copy the updated folder into the old one, should I ignore the old files or overwrite them (and take hours in the process). There is a chance that my backup fails because there are too many old files that I ignored and left there?

I don't know what Ignore does when files have the same name. Does it change the name (like "sessionstore(1).jsonlz4") or does it skip the file so the latest version is never backed up?

Does your backup software let you select specific files or folders to back up? I'm thinking maybe you could skip the storage folder, which can be full of large database files for website data that you can easily get back by visiting the site again. Of course, it also stores add-on data, so maybe there is something valuable in there after all. Hmm...

Anyway, if you are thinking about being more selective, check out this article for information on the key files:
