Can't connect to e-mail account
I am running Thunderbird 115.5.0 on a Win 7 Pro PC (yeah, I know). I recently retired and am trying to change from my work e-mail settings to my personal Gmail account. I have the incoming server set to pop3.gmail.com and the port to 995. Authentication is SSL/TLS and normal password. The outgoing server is set to smtp.gmail.com and authentication is No Authentication, with port 465. When I click on the Get Messages icon Thunderbird doesn't seem to do anything. Is there something else I need to do, or does one of the settings need changing?
Thanks!

I think you need authentication set to OAUTH2.
Thanks, but that didn't work either.

Sorry, but unless you can offer more information that that it is unlikely anyone will even understand the issue. let alone be able to offer something constructive.
Google offer fairly comptehensive information on their connections requirements https://support.google.com/mail/answer/7104828?hl=en David has added that you must use oAUth authentication with google for it to work, but have you actually allowed pop in your gmail account settings?
Try this link https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#settings/fwdandpop it will take you to the google settings page where you can enable POP, which is not enabled by default. Google want you data, so they enable IMAP so copies remain with them. If you insist on POP, you also have to know enough to enable it. Great social engineering to get what they want. Rather inconvenient for the rest of us.
