Two issues:

1. History is truncated, does not show all history even though Custom Settings set to remember. One google post said to 'delete all history upon closure' ... There are many, many posts from users having same issue.

2. Whatever history is being recorded is no longer simply a list (Ctrl-H) but is sorted into Today, Last Week etc. which is both annoying and makes searching for previously located site impossible unless you know WHEN you visited (unlikely).

Why was the changed? And why don't you change it back so when I select History, Show All History from task bar, Firefox would do just that?

In the History Manager (Library; Ctrl+Shift+H) you can click the "Most Recent Visit" column on the header bar to sort by this column, you may have to right-click the header bar to enable this column or use "Views -> Show Columns". In the sidebar (Ctrl+H) you can the down arrow (V) and sort by "Last Visited" date, but this doesn't show the date/time.
