oAuth2 Gmail and Thunderbird
Hello all,
I have several machines we use thunderbird and gmail connection on.
We can only get the accounts to link if the authorizations is set to "normal password"
From what I have read on the forum, we will need to change the authentication to oAuth2 for our accounts to work after May 30th.
Following the steps to do so, and authenticating (and allowing access) in the browser, I am unable to send/receive on the thunderbird side. Switch it back to normal password and it will again work properly.
Is there anything I missed here? Not understanding why we cannot get Oauth2 to work.
Current Settings
IMAP enabled in gmail Cookies allowed in thunderbird Less secure apps off in gmail (trying to get ahead of this before May) private/public windows defender firewall off

What exactly does this mean, particularly the "in the browser" part?
Please explain the exact steps you're doing.
What is your version of Thunderbird?
I am unable to send/receive on the thunderbird side.
Not a useful problem description. What happens when you attempt to send and receive messages? Is there any error message?

Thunderbird version 91.8.1
Steps I am taking:
1. Account settings>main page>outgoing server>edit SMTP> Changing authentication method to OAuth2
2. Server settings>Authentication Method>Changing to OAuth2
3. At this point I go to send a test email, which opens a browser login screen to connect with my gmail account (opens page asking for email account followed by password and finally asking for permissions).
After allowing through the gmail prompt, and attempting to send an email, it will sit on sending indefinitely. Once I hit cancel I receive an error pop up. Will attach some screenshots.

Did this process complete successfully, including the permission request?
You can try to delete any Gmail passwords and/or Oauth2 authentication tokens Thunderbird has remembered.
At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button 
> Options > Privacy & Security > Passwords > Saved Passwords > Show Passwords
The permissions appear to complete successfully as the window closes. No other indications of success or failure are given.
I will check into that but this is a brand new setup, no other passwords have been used.
Also, please post your Troubleshooting Information.
At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information.
Press the "Copy text to clipboard button" and paste the information into your reply.
Clearing saved passwords also unsuccessful.

Your server settings look good. Also make sure to allow cookies in Thunderbird. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/automatic-conversion-google-mail-accounts-oauth20
Cookies have been allowed, seems to be allowed as a default on the fresh installs I've done on 91.8.1
I'm running out of ideas. One last thing you can try: Start Windows 10 in safe mode with networking enabled. Does the problem go away?
Windows safe mode disables anti-virus software. This is a troubleshooting step, not a solution.
