I tried downloading wondershare dvd maker and avg popped up saying it wasnt trusted. I tried leaving the alert but it wouldnt let me so i tried pressing alt f4. Alt f4 didnt work, so i chose deletion option. But it deleted my firefox browser. Naturally i had no idea what was happening when i tried clicking the firefox shortcut and it said the file didnt exist or had been moved or deleted. I checked my uninstall option on my computer and firefox wasnt even listed. I downloaded imyfoneanyrecover app after a quick google search but for some reason when i opened the app it couldnt go in window mode and half the page is off the screen and i dont know how to switch the app to window mode. I even tried downloading firefox again and it wouldnt install. I am really confused right now and i am afraid all my history, bookmarks, etc. Are gone forever. Is it avg or was the wondershare dvd maker a malware that did this? Please someone help me!

Hi, I'm not sure what has happened there, maybe AVG deleted Firefox by mistake because it was already open when you clicked delete. Hopefully your Firefox Profile containing you data will still be intact.

First I would restart your PC, then once it's settled, try a Clean Reinstall; this means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location. With Firefox closed, use another browser to download Firefox from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ and save the file to somewhere convenient on your computer.

Now delete the Firefox installation folder which should be in one of the following locations - Windows: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.

You can now double click the file you previously downloaded to install Firefox.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please help other users by marking the best reply as Solved. Thank you!

Thanks! All my bookmarks, etc were saved. I guess i was worrying over nothing. It's weird though, while trying to reinstall today avg tried to delete it again and I couldn't fully install firefox until i had restarted the computer. It kept going to 97% then asking me to try again. I think i'm going to uninstall my version of avg to make sure this never happens again.
