Password recovery
My wife recently imported logins/passwords from chrome and that over wrote the values that would be more current. Is there anyway to revert it back to the previous state before the import?

Unless you have a backup somewhere . . . .
In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
What OS (Windows or Mac) is this about and is this on a desktop device or a mobile device ?
Windows 10 desktop
You can look at a utility to browse System Restore points and check if you have older copies of logins.json and key4.db in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
