lost bookmarks

I rebooted my computer and all my bookmarks disappeared. I looked for instructions on line but they don't apply to my computer. It says to click on library then bookmarks then restore . I do not have those options. there is no restore button. Why don't they fix this problem. I have wasted an hour and still don't have my book marks back. I have logged in twice.

Are you running Firefox directly from the *****.dmg file that you downloaded?

This is a common mistake that a lot of people on Mac make when installing Firefox. You need to correctly install Firefox on your system or else you will have issues. See How to download and install Firefox on Mac.

You need to copy the firefox.app file into the Applications folder on your Mac. Otherwise, Firefox will randomly detect that it's a new installation and create a new blank profile folder for you (which is why you see no bookmarks and your browser looks like it's been reset).

Once you've done that, you can open Firefox from that firefox.app file instead of the DMG and then recover your old profile folder. See Recover user data missing after Firefox update.

After you've done all that, the old Firefox should be on the left sidebar of your Mac file explorer. You can press the little eject button next to it to remove it from the computer.

Hope this helps.
