why does firefox require a separate folder from it web link? This is maddening; I need to save many shortcuts for medical research. The ability of saving numerous single files in a folder is absolutely essential to my work. I find firefox terribly inefficient and useless without a solution to this situation...
I would appreciate specific simple answers to this issue. Saving to a hidden sidebar is not the answer and not a helpful solution. Sorry to be so critical; however, 'firefox seems to be so preoccupied with constant minor "tinkering" updates and not address key issues such as this...rjk

I suggest creating a new bookmark folder and store such links in it.
Hi rjk, I'm not sure what you are saving.

I can think of two things:
Bookmarks
You can bookmark a page to any folder, and as many as you like in a single folder. You do not need to create new folders for each bookmark. If your Firefox is not showing the New Bookmark drop-down to let you choose a folder when you click the star or press Ctrl+d, there's a checkbox for that (info to be provided if needed), and if you want to pre-set a different default folder, there's an add-on for that.
The only time I can think of that Firefox suggests creating a new folder for bookmarks is if you have selected multiple tabs or select Bookmark All Tabs (Ctrl+Shift+d). Is that the scenario: you want to create bookmarks for multiple tabs at once in an existing folder?
Saving Webpages to Disk
When you use
Save Page As... => Web page, Complete
Firefox creates a main HTML file and a companion folder with all the files used in the page. This is a classic approach used for decades that all browsers offer.
If you want to save the page as one single file with everything rolled into it, here are a couple add-ons you could consider:
- SingleFile: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/single-file/
- Save Page WE: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/save-page-we/
