Why is spellchecking not functioning?
Why is Firefox not checking my spelling? I have this problem on Wordpress and on Instagram and also typing into this box. I type soidgjxxii and no squiggly underline appears.
I am on a MacBook. I try ctrl click (=rightclick) to see if there are language options and there are not.
I have ticked the box Firefox preferences>General>Language>Check your spelling as you type
Is there another box I should tick somewhere? Is there a dictionary I should have downloaded? I can’t see any indication anywhere about what to do. Advice welcome, thank you.

Hi, depending on your locale, you might need to install a Dictionary (not Language Pack - which changes the User Interface) from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/language-tools/
If it doesn't work after installation, restart Firefox.

Great - thank you! That worked. Is there an autocorrect option? shoudl is now underlined but not corrected, for example. Can you advise me how to get Firefox to correct capitalisation like THis. So it changes THis to this.
There is no automatic correction in my dictionary which is British English - just underlining, but I think dictionaries for different locales may vary.
Thank you. I have now installed the British English (Marco Pinto) dictionary. No automatic correction. I can live with that! At least it underlines my mistakes now. Thanks for your useful and speedy response.
