Firefox crashes when attempting to attach a file in Gmail on Xubuntu 18.04

I am getting a consistent crash when using Firefox on Xubuntu 18.04 and attempting to attach a file in Gmail. I am a novice user, but here are the steps I've already tried:

1) Updated Xubuntu operating system (sudo apt-get upgrade) 2) Verified on latest version of Firefox 3) Ran firefox with no add-ons 4) Tested the memory using memtest 5) Verified it works fine in Chromium
