Firefox is forcing an update to Quantum even with update disabled
I'm using Firefox 56.0.2, and I don't want to upgrade to Quantum. I have set "Never check for updates" in the options, I have disabled using the background service (app.update.service.enabled=false), and I have uninstalled the Mozilla Maintenance Service. But if I start Firefox, and open the Options dialog, then Firefox silently creates the "update" folder in AppData\Local\Mozilla\, and if I restart without deleting it, it updates anyway. Could someone please help me solve this problem? Maybe one of the app.update.* keys in the config? Thanks in advance?

You can set app.update.url to an empty (blank) string value to prevent Firefox from connecting to the update server.

There is a small check box under the update options called "Automatically update search engine". If you unchecked it may stop firefox from checking your version.

Thanks for the tip, but it was already unckecked for me when I observed this behaviour.

Thanks, this has solved the issue. For some reason, the "updates" folder is still being created, but Firefox no longer starts updating when I restart it.
