Can you restore my bookmarks from my previous Acer computer from, say 19/01/18?
My Acer computer, on Windows XP, broke on 19 January and I am now using an HP Slimline Pavilion on Windows 7, 64 bit edition. Have you got a copy of my Bookmarks Library from this date? I have never backed up my bookmarks (as I wasn't aware that I could).
Thank you
This new version is 58.0.2

Hello again. After a struggle I have managed to copy my bookmarks from one of my old computer's backups (there were over 200 of them), so I am really pleased about that.
So thank you very much for your help. I shall know what to do if it happens again.

FF or Mozilla doesn't backup or keep copies of your bookmark that is locally stored. If your system failed and there is no bookmark backup there is nothing FF or FF help forum can do to help. You need to take it to a computer shop to help you recover or fix it so that you can backup the bookmarks if they can.
Thank you for your response.
I have now got access to my backup files from my old computer. Could you please tell which files to copy across to my new computer on which I am using your Quantum 58.0.2 (64-bit) edition on Windows 7. The old one was running Windows XP.
Please note I cannot access my computer from my iPad, which I use for my emails.
See above
You can copy files like these with Firefox closed to the current profile folder to recover specific data.
- bookmarks and history: places.sqlite
- bookmark backups: compressed .jsonlz4 JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder
- cookies.sqlite for the Cookies
- formhistory.sqlite for saved autocomplete Form Data
- logins.json (passwords) and key4.db (58+) or key3.db (57 and older) (decryption key) for Passwords saved in the Password Manager
if you only have key3.db then make sure to remove an existing key4.db - cert9.db (58+) or cert8.db (57 and older) for (intermediate) certificates stored in the Certificate Manager
if you only have cert8.db then make sure to remove an existing cert9.db - persdict.dat for words you added to the spelling checker dictionary
- permissions.sqlite for Permissions and possibly content-prefs.sqlite for other website specific data (Site Preferences)
- sessionstore.jsonlz4 for open tabs and pinned tabs (see also the sessionstore-backups folder)
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
