hi cpdita, thanks for providing a crash report id. we have seen quite a number of similar reports about this issue in the last hours and this issue is likely caused by your symantec security software that is hooking into firefox (probably through a program/signature update done by them). other users reported that updating firefox in this situation helped with the crashes. you can download & install the latest firefox from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

The crash report mention Firefox 39.0.3.

This seems to be part of a pattern of crashes related to the latest Norton signature/pattern file update with older versions of Firefox. If you can't update to either Firefox 48.0.2 or Firefox 45.3.0esr, try rolling back that last signature/pattern file update.

Hi slswyoming, can you install Firefox 48.0.2? This page has installers in many languages:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

If you are running a 64-bit version of Windows: You may still want to use the standard 32-bit version of Firefox because it supports a broader range of plugins (64-bit supports only Flash and Silverlight, not Java, VLC, Acrobat, Google Talk, etc.).

If you are running Windows XP or Windows Vista: The "all" page may steer you to an old version, so instead use this folder:

http://archive.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/48.0.2/win32/

To discover your language code, check the address bar while you are on the main Mozilla site or this support site, and the code should be in the address (e.g., en-US is U.S. English).
