hi menders34, thanks for providing a crash report id. we have seen quite a number of similar reports about this issue in the last hours and this issue is likely caused by your symantec security software that is hooking into firefox (probably through a program/signature update done by them). other users reported that updating firefox in this situation helped with the crashes. you can download & install the latest firefox from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
Thank you for your reply Philipp! Unfortunately, we cannot update the users to the latest version of Firefox because they use version 41 for a specific website. What else can we do to get these users resolved & working ASAP?
Thanks
and the users who need version 41 are NOT all affected. So all the users have Symantec Endpoint & all them have version 41, but 2 are having the error.
PLEASE HELP!
in this case you should get in contact with symantec's support to inquire if they have a fix available and in which form they are planning to release it.
other affected users also reported that rolling back the last client intrusion prevention signatures can help: http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/firefox-problem-after-sep-update
SEP did not push any updates & neither did our System Admin. IF there was an update pushed out by SEP, then all the users using version 41, would be affected. I was able to install version 41.09b for the 2 users who are having this issue, but I need to get a resolution, so I can reinstall version 41 on the 2 user machines.
On 9/13/16 @ 9:27AM, I posted that SEP did not push out any updates & neither did our System Admin for Symantec Endpoint Protection. I was able to install version 41.09b for the 2 users who are having the issue, but I need to get resolution so I can reinstall version 41 on the 2 user machines.
Please help!
Thanks Melissa
looks like we have SEP Version 12.1.6 (12.1RU6 MP5) build 7004 (12.1.7004.6500)
Is this the issue?
no, the ips signature definitions on those affected systems are the issue
