My search bar has suddenly appeared in the middle and sticks out like a sore thumb, is there any way for me to move it to a less conspicuous place like the bottom right hand side ? I'm not sure if this new configuration is part of a new update but if it is why can't the developers leave it alone. I only stumbled across this whilst trying to fix Mozilla as my menu (three lines across each other) bar had stopped working along with my bookmarks folder. Also now I have lost the orange block which was a short cut to quite a few things like my printer, if anyone can help I will be forever in your debt. Thanks

The middle of the main Navigation Toolbar (the one with the address bar)? You can use the Customize feature to "unlock" toolbar controls so you can move them. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

The "orange block" was a button that said "Firefox" which provided an abbreviated menu that was in Firefox from version 4 to 28. If you have been using it recently, most likely you have been using the Classic Theme Restorer extension. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/

Did you use the Firefox Refresh feature to resolve the menu button problem? That would have removed your extensions and toolbar customizations and explain why things reverted back to defaults. The telltale sign of Refresh is a new Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop with a semi-randomly-named folder inside, which is your old Firefox profile folder. If necessary, you can mine that folder for missing data, or do a wholesale restoration (manually, there are several steps).

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
