can I install Thunderbird in Win 8.1 BUT ADD it as DEFAULT email LATER?
I have Win Live email 2012.I'm nervous about exporting ALL my FOLDERS(with emails in them) and my contacts (with ALLthe info) So can I make Thunderbird the default email later and will it intergrate then(I also use reminderfox as my calendar)

you just tell it no when it asks. Simple as that
BTW your live mail will require manual import and is not affected by the process. When your done the mail will be duplicated, not moved.
thanks i'm also having a heck of a time getting my contacts imported,i'm using vcf but it seems that yiou have to import 1 at a time.it won't allow you to import the folder I put the contacts into.I also want to imort all my email folders(which are filled with saved emails) what would be the easiest way to do both ?
I assume your contacts are in the Windows contacts folder. If that is the case make the changes to Thunderbird I describe here http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2013/12/windows-contacts.html
That will allow them to be used and saved to their current location. No import required.
windows contacts died for me with Vista i'm in 8.1 where there is no win contacts folder.my contacts are embedded in win live mail 2012.when I find contacts on my C drive and copy the location then paste it in "Config Editor" Nothing happens .I'm not an IT guy I have average cpu skills
Hey Matt I got my contacts into thunderbird (using csv folder)it finally recognized the folder and imported! Now i'm trying to get all my Separate folders(with many files in them Imported) Whats the best way of doing this?
Just curious, but given the integration of live mail and Hotmail. Are you contacts on the Hotmail web site if you go to send a mail there?
I've never used hotmail so i wouldn't know how to go about that. But now I'm trying to move my MANY folders of saved emails into TB I added import/export extension but i'm CONFUSED
