How do I stop firefox from forcing updates onto my computer?

Every new version makes FF twice as complicated as the last one. I suppose that's great for impressing fellow programmers, but really crappy for human beings.

The ancient Elitism rearing it's ugly head. Why to all the good programmers forget real people who need LESS COMPLICATED not more.

Put all the stuff you write to impress other programmers into a totally optional place instead of making FF unusable for real humans.

Is there something in particular you don't like in the newer versions? Also, you can give feedback about firefox at input.mozilla.org.

Turning off updates for firefox isn't a good idea, as each release contains security fixes that are disclosed to the public. However, you can if you want to. Go to the firefox preferences (type about:preferences in the url bar), choose the "advanced" tab, and then choose "update". You can then select "never check for updates".

I don't want to turn off updates. I want hotshot programmers to N-O-T configure Firefox to CHANGE what I have set up on my computer. I want them to N-O-T remove stuff from Firefox that I use every day. I can't even remember what they called that list of options in the upper left of the screen, but I used it regularly. Now it is ripped out. $&^*&&^%$#@

I guarantee you, if somebody had sat down at MY computer and removed those features, I would have beat him bloody. WHY DO SOME HOTSHOTS SOMEWHERE THINK THEY KNOW BETTER THEN i DO WHAT i NEED??????

DON'T force me to use my computer as you use yours. Give me the OPTIONS to choose. Options. Not YOUR WAY - options.

Like I said, it looks to me like you're trying to impress hot shots some where. Don't destroy perfectly good applications in the process. Give S-O-M-E thought to what non-geeks NEED.

AND when pseudo answering complaints, give us the chance to talk to somebody, not que up on a yet another pick list of off subject nonsense.
