FF freezes my whole computer when watching videos. What to do?!
Hi there. So, for quite a while now, Firefox keeps on freezing my whole computer while watching videos on YouTube or streams on Twitch. It started a few weeks back & when I couldn't resolve the problem, I changed to Chrome. But I just don't like it, so yesterday, I decided to go back to my fav browser: Firefox.
But my problem remains: When I'm watching a video, my browser constantly keeps freezing my whole MacBook. It starts with the video just stopping but the audio keeps going on for some 10-20 seconds. Then I can't move the cursor anymore & finally the sound dies & nothing reacts anymore. I can't even open the Activity Monitor or do anything else. So the only possibility for me to get back doing stuff is to hard reset my laptop & boot it again. This just happened to me twice in the last two & 4 or 5 times in the last 24 hours... I would really appreciate, if anyone could point me towards an solution.
Oh, and I'm on OS X 10.10.2 using Firefox 36.0.1 (but it also happened on 35.x before). Hardware Acceleration is turned off & flash is on its latest version. Cache has been flushed several times as well.

So it seems like disabling Flash's own Hardware Acceleration (which I didn't even know was a thing) solved my problem. At least there were no more crashes so far.

I have the same problem. But only since yesterday when I updated to FF39 and updated Flash at the same time.
I am using Windows 7 and had no problem like this using FF19 and FF38.
I don't have to reboot, just close a restart FF which is slightly annoying if I'm on a site which has a 'view new content since last vist' as the last visit was only 3 seconds before.
I have disabled Flash Hardware Acceleration to no effect.
