dear ladies and gentlemen,

Firefox has been delivered with the new print dialog since version 82.

I have to print around a hundred PDF files at work (usually only the first page of the document). The new print dialog means that there is a lot more work for me here.

Is it possible to set the "old" system print dialog by default or to instruct firefox to always print only the first page of the document by default?

Thanks to terrible, productivity-sucking changes in the basic functions of the FF browser, I have started using other browsers. First - FF updates far too frequently - almost daily. No option to block update notifications. Never know if it's something trivial, an important security fix, or a major interface change. The 'what's new' page is always incomplete. 2nd - FF downloads software surreptiously through the sneaky "normandy" back door and inserts feature changes irregardlessly. Doesn't matter if you explicitly selected NO to enrolling in studies. Users can't get a straight answer on how to disable Normandy. Named after the Allied stealth invasion of Europe, it does the same thing to our computers. 3rd- FF caters to fringe techie desires with an onslaught of unwanted or unsuable additions that bloats the software, uses up CPU, or inserts intrusive attention-seeking diversions. I am forced to spend too much time after each update to investigate how to shut off unwanted surprises as well as unannounced alterations to my option settings. For example, if I press the mute button on my keyboard a very large media window pops up and takes over a sizeable chunk of my computer screen. It cannot be resized. It has no close button. Took hours to find out how to disable this. 4th-FF developers seem to expect users to have the newest computer equipment, huge display screens, and lot's of extra memory. If not, too bad. 5th - the recent puzzling, arrogant changes to the basic print function is evidence of that mindset. FF developers say they aren't going to let users revert to the normal "classic" small foot-print pulldown menu on the left side of the screen to preview, set up headers, etc. Too bad if the open window is too narrow to view this new intrusive, real estate consuming right hand display. Too bad that you can no longer simply seamlessly interact and accomplish the task. Too bad that the FF developers think they know better than you that you should change the way you work. 6th Reader view is an obscure feature. I do not want to be forced to use it. I do my best to strip out or ignore the overwhelming number of pictographs competing for my attention, 7th - I can no longer see URLs in the address bar. You've truncated them. I am forced to cut and paste them into a text editor to see them in their entirety. 8th - Firefox hangs video streaming sites like peacocktv.com. Windows Taskmanager shows that FF forces CPU and hard drive usage to 100%. 9th -There is no mechanism to escape, break, or interrupt FF's failed video stream. How sad that Microsoft's obnoxious Edge browser is better at video streaming. It uses far less system resources on the same video streaming site. AND doesn't hang the OS. It's likely FF's new unwanted capability to launch multiple picture in pictures - which I don't use - hogs resources. 10th- How about beta testing using 'normal' non-super techie /gamer users? 11th -FF disabled user Feedback. I stopped updating Firefox. Not trustworthy.

I believe everyone has a right to choose the browser and operating system they use. I choose to use Firefox because I care about my privacy, and because of features like multi-account containers - as a software developer these are non-negotiable. I choose to use Linux for similar reasons, and many Linux distributions come with Firefox preinstalled as a default browser. In light of recent changes to Google's data collection through Chrome, I am more than ever committed to using Firefox as my only browser.

However over the last year or so, I have noticed an increasing number of websites or features on websites have stopped working in Firefox on Linux, forcing me to use Chrome against my wishes. Examples include the entirety of the Australian government's MyGov website; the phone call feature in Slack; and Google Meet meetings (no audio). I know people who use Firefox on other operating systems and they have not had these problems, so I can only assume that the issue is specific to Firefox on Linux.

I am not trying to suggest that Mozilla is responsible for this in any way - if Google or Slack or the government refuse to support Firefox on Linux, that's their responsibility, not Mozilla's. However, I am not convinced that the lack of support is intentional, or that it isn't a quirk of the particular Linux distribution I use or the version of Firefox included in the package manager. Any advice would be appreciated.

My Firefox version is 84.0.1, and my Linux distribution is KDE Neon User Edition 5.21 which uses Ubuntu 20.04 under the hood.

Hi,

Somehow while searching for this solution on the web. I got my answer in a foreign Firefox. The answers posted to this solution are in English but all the other buttons are according to Goggle translate are in Lithuanian. How can I see this whole page in English?

I was able to answer a couple of people but if I search in my USA profile, none my posted questions or answers include the ones from the Lithuanian Firefox. Just curious if I could see them here somehow.

So, I just noticed today that my bookmarks section is acting oddly. Normally it brings up the option for where to send a bookmark. But randomly, I've seen it suddenly switch to just defaulting to the last bookmark location. For example, I want to bookmark something in a bookmark folder I have specific for things related to writing, but when I go to bookmark the site, the first thing that comes up is the location I created for youtube videos. What exactly is going on here, and how do I fix that?

Wow... I just updated and am trying to use Firefox as my default browser yet again, however, yet again, it's RAM usage is ruining an otherwise good relationship. Why does this browser guzzle RAM so hungrily? I had to reboot it as I couldn't type any longer, without waiting every few letters before seeing them on the screen, and I've got 60 Gigs of RAM. But Firefox was using 22 of them!

This has obviously been an ongoing issue for years, both from my experience, and the 2,000 threads that come up in response to this issue. Come on guys, it can't be this impossible to create a functional browser that is more RAM efficient, what's the problem?

Oh, and it sure would be nice, given 2,000 results from my search, to be able to filter them by date. I'm using version 84, so threads dealing with version 50 or so, aren't going to be of much help...

I am using Firefox 84.0.2 (64-bit) on Win 10 Pro and the menu font size and toolbar icons are minuscule, even on my 32" monitor.

I found a fix for this same problem in Thunderbird, but I don't see any way to make the menu fonts and toolbar icons bigger in Firefox. This has nothing to do with web sites, just the menu/bookmarks, toolbar icons, etc.

Thank you.

Here's how I discovered this issue.

PayPal has a page on which the user selects a method for having money withdrawn from one's PayPal account to one's bank. I've found that this page's "Next" button works correctly (that is, it loads the page on which the user would then indicate the amount to be transferred) on Firefox 40.0.2, but it works incorrectly (that is, it only underlines the word "Next" and does not load a new page) on Firefox 52.9.0 and Firefox 87.0.2. (My internet access in each case is dialup.)

After pursuing various leads on the possible cause, it occurred to me to inspect the page source for the "withdraw" page for each of those versions of Firefox. And I discovered that the page source displayed by Firefox 40.0.2 contained content that was absent from the page source displayed by either of the other two Firefox versions. Some of this content appeared to define a function that returns content to the server when "Next" was clicked. If true, this could certainly account for why clicking the button didn't do what it should.

I noticed that the page source uses as many as 12 nested levels of <div>-</div> elements, which seems counter to the advice I read at an HTML standards page (at whatwg.org). But I don't know whether this could be a factor in the behavior I described.

I've copied the page source for each Firefox version and pasted them into text files, but I wasn't sure it would be appropriate to post them publicly. I would be glad to provide them offline.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

hi, i'm mostly interested in getting some help with creating my settings/preferences to stay the way i want them. every time there's a update, my personal settings get wiped out and i have to start all over again. there was a time when FF offered a way to leave some updates out and select the ones we wanted. now, it's all blanket updates. many times i lose important tabs and files. it's annoying. the way these updates are coming in i cringe each time i see the notice. and then there are times they get done automatically.

what's a mother to do?

many thanks for your consideration!

Just recently Firefox started to display a "Loading..." message in the middle of every page I go to in Breitbart.com (doesn't happen in any other website).

It appears about 2 seconds AFTER the page loads or press F5. The background goes dark suggesting it's modal. It lasts for about 1 second and then goes away and everything appears normal.

I've been told this is a Cloudflare anti-DDoS CDN protocol issue, but I'm not so sure of that.

I've started up in Clean Mode and get the same behavior.

When Picture-In-Picture mode first release, the size of the video was respective to the video's resolution, the window would increase in size the large the resolution and decrease the smaller. This allowed the window to be customizable in size. Now, for me at least, every picture-in-picture video is a tiny window. Is there a way to tweak and increase the size of the video like before?
