About a week ago I started getting these update error messages stating "Update available - Firefox couldn't update automatically. Download the new version". I've also tried clicking "Learn more" on the error message but it's a dead link. Going into the settings for updates I am set to auto update, but when I manually check for updates it says "Failed to check for updates".

The help article on this issue simply tells you to download and manually reinstall Firefox, but I'm having to do this nearly every day. I work in IT myself so I know a "bandaid" workaround when I see one. Is there a solution to this issue?

I am using theme called WhiteSur to imitate Safari, as that is the browser layout I prefer. However, this doesn't change the position of the close tab button and leaves it on the right hand side. I found a way to change it, using the code .tabbrowser-tab .tab-close-button {

 margin-left: -5px !important;
 margin-right: 2.5px !important;

} Unfortunately, this doesn't change based on the size of the tab, so if I set it to a size that is good for only having 1 tab, it will look bad or be off the screen for the other amounts of tabs. Is there a way to detect the width of the tab or the amount of tabs open and dynamically set the margins based off of this? So I could set it as (width-of-tab)-x and that would always keep the close tab button in the same spot, regardless of tab size. Thanks!

I can login from other web browsers, but not Firefox. What's going on?

I have tried several suggested fixes to get the Washington Post website to work properly, including reloading Firefox. Links within the site fail to load, pictures are hazy low-resolution, sometimes content doesn't display at all, or does so briefly before going blank. The problem seemed to start after an update 2 weeks ago. I am about to give up trying to fix this, and choose another browser. I don't understand why the problem only affects the WaPo website, which runs fine on chrome or Safari.

i use New Tab Override, reinstalled my software, firefox, and lost the button to get a new tab that goes on the address bar. its no longer in customize. ive removed the addon and put it back on, started in troubleshoot mode, disabled all other addons, and it never showed back up

Hi, I've been trying to get the Multi-Account Containers Add On to work on my computer for quite some time. Would be very handy for me. When I add the Add On to my browser the icon on the top right of the screen just won't show up. Don't know what I've been doing wrong...? How can I access the container settings someway else? I've made changes to my FF settings in regards to privacy via the recommendation from Sun Knudsen but don't really see an issue here. Thanks in advance!

Where are all the tabs for the research I was working on? I stepped out of my office for a few minutes and returned to a very proud message declaring that Firefox had auto updated and now better than ever. Only all my tabs are gone. Why does every other browser save and restore tabs when updating, but not Firefox??? Do I have to go back to Safari or Chrome? This cannot happen!!!

Headlines and other tabs are not showing text properly - Not even a different language - Example of the way a headline or tab would read: Vj cv)u"k# with other parts of the website reading is ok. Especially in the application Vimeo.

I have rebooted computer and confirmed it is something to do with Firefox because when I go and use another platform like chrome it looks fine, no problems.

The attached photo shows the startup page that appeared today, yesterday that page had 12 of my most frequent websites loaded in place of the ones you see now. This page keeps changing on me and it's infuriating to have to remake it every few months.

What is going on??

I have updated Firefox, refreshed Firefox, gone through Troubleshoot mode, cleared the startup cache, and deleted the "xulstore.json" in my profile folder.

Pls help this is driving me nuts + making me want to switch browsers. Thanks : )

When logging into an account there are multiple usernames (incorrect or older.) I would like to remove or delete them, but keep the current passwords.

Is that possible without deleting the account?

I have recently refreshed Firefox on my laptop running MacOS. Previously I had changed the full-screen-transition in about:config to be zero, but since refreshing changing the setting hasn't disabled the transition. My config is this currently: full-screen-api.transition-duration.enter 0 0 full-screen-api.transition-duration.leave 0 0 full-screen-api.transition.timeout 0 Despite everything being like before the transition persists... I'm currently on the latest version of Firefox (125.0.3)

So on my macbook when I enable fullscreen the anmation is super weird. first it stretches the video to the top and then just expands to the whole screen, when I go out of fullscreen is stretches to the bottom and then goes out off fullscreen. for example on safari it just expands the video until it takes up the whole screen. I have gone in about:config and disabled the fullscreen animation but that did nothing.

Why aren't pull-down menus, behaving consistently, on Firefox on an M1-Max Mac on macOS Sonoma ?

The pulldown-menus don't persist, long-enough to click-upon a selection .

There are a few websites (e.g., https://thehermitagehotel.com/) that show up as a white screen (see attached) when I visit them from Firefox using my usual settings, but show up correctly if I use Firefox in private browsing mode. Turning off enhanced tracking protection does not resolve the problem. My browser privacy in Settings is set to "Custom" with everything checked, but changing to Standard and reloading the site does not fix the issue. As I noted above, the only thing that works is to open the site in private browsing mode. Most sites work fine. This problem is limited to 2-3 websites. My version of Firefox is 125.0.1 .

Hi there. I love Firefox, but I have an issue at the moment where I have one copy set up on my Mac, and it has two profiles. However, I'm running into regular problems where they're both open and they can't quit, or they crash, or they want updates, the other one, and then it has to be restarted and can't open web pages for stuff like that.

A little bit more about my setup. I have two admin accounts on my Mac and an applications folder with Firefox in it. Then each of my Mac accounts has a version of Firefox with a different profile.

I'm about to do a clean install of macOS with the two admin accounts. I want to install Firefox correctly this time. How do I have two entirely separate copies of Firefox running on my Mac in the two admin accounts? I just don't want their threads to be mixed or them to be updating each other or anything like that.

Absolutely love Firefox, but this has been quite a big issue for me and I'd love some advice here. Thank you.

Additional note, I followed the link below the first time I setup to create two profiles, but that didn't quite do what I wanted.
