Hello!

I’ve been having quite strange problem with Firefox for a few months since version 80.X on clean Windows 10 (reinstalled from scratch after secure erase; the latest 20H2 version with all updates installed). It’s worth to mention that I’ve been using Firefox like 15 years and never had an issue like this before.

Firefox just fills up system drive completely (50+GB to 0 bytes remaining) few times a day under active usage. It happens randomly and I can’t identify the reason. I also can’t find any actual files saved on disk because it seems to be related to NTFS cache. I’ve tried disabling the following settings with no success:

browser.cache.disk.enable cached-web-content_cached-web-content browser.cache.memory.enable browser.cache.disk.smart_size.enabled

And couldn’t find any solution unfortunately. I usually have 2 windows opened ("common" and private) with 10 to 30 tabs each which is not much at all for i7/16GB I believe. This problem is extremely annoying and seriously affects SSD life so I'd really appreciate if someone would help me to resolve it. Thanks in advance!

My Firefox installation (86.0 64-bit on macOS 10.15.7) always crashes on opening gmail.com. It seems to be on the point it loads the hangout stuff, but that's subjective. Also seems to happen on other google domains, like meet.google.com

Some Crash ID's bp-b0a5daca-f85f-47dc-a306-647250210306 (gmail.com crash) bp-d4e0a614-cea4-41b3-b665-e5abd0210306 (meet.google.com crash)

What I've done:

  • Tested if crash happens in safe mode (yes)
  • Refreshed my installation: still happens
  • Removed all cookies for google domains, still happens
  • Created a fully new profile, crash still happens
  • Installed a new Firefox from the website, crash still happens

Hello, I would like to know is it possible to see/check the history of synced devices on Firefox. In other words, is it possible to check whether somebody synced my Firefox with theirs without me knowing it or being aware that happening. In this specific case I know it happened 100% and I just need somehow to prove it ... Thank you!

Hello all. For the past couple months i've been able to use the web version of Google Earth within the browser with little to no issue. However, about a week or two ago I discovered Google Earth stopped working whenever I tried to use it. I would navigate to Google Earth's website, click "Launch Google Earth", and be met with this loading screen which never changes. I went to Google for help and they had me run Memtest86 on my computer, to which I found all of my RAM sticks were fully functional with 0 error or issue.

I am using the absolute latest version of firefox as well as my operating system. I am running Windows 10 on a custom built PC for gaming, 64-bit. I've tried the following:

-disabling browser addons -restarting firefox -disabling my antivirus -disabling my antimalware -restarting computer (multiple times) -disabling ALL of my browser addons

Now at first google earth wouldn't load in google chrome either, but at some point during my troubleshooting for fixing google earth on firefox, google earth began loading in chrome with no issue. As of now the only browser that can't pull up google earth is Firefox. I've attached a screenshot of the error messages I see when loading Google Earth in firefox.

Please, any and all help would be greatly appreciated. If there's anymore relevant, useful information I could provide then please let me know.

All PC's mentioned below are on the same router and LAN, and all are using Firefox 86 x64 on Windows 10.

I have been a Firefox user for many, many years (I started using browsers in the 90's, 'nuff said). But having recently reinstalled a PC, I found myself unable to initiate sync on the new Firefox install there. I kept getting the error "NetworkError when attempting to fetch resource." in a red box when I entered my password. Perplexed, I tried creating a support ticket on another of my PC's (let's call it #2) - same error there when trying to sign in to Firefox support! I then tried to use that browser to access my account by going to Account Settings -> Manage Account. I was met with a circle animation - and a completely blank webpage.

This post is being created from my third PC, where, for some odd reason, the Manage Account function actually works, and where I was also able to sign into support. I made a change to my bookmarks on PC/Firefox #2, to see if sync was still working - and it did come through to PC #3. After that, I was finally able to start a sync on PC #1 (the newly installed one).

But I am still unable to do anything with my account on PC #2. Can't sign in to support, can't access Manage Account. And this cannot be purely about the profile or installation, as the issue was affecting PC #1 as well.

It seems like Mozilla's account management is really wobbly, and my prime suspect is the shift to "Firefox Accounts" on the support pages recently. But I'm open to being proved wrong.

Just hoping someone out there can tell me what this issue is, and how I fix it. The fact that I was unable to sign in to my Firefox Account from a completely new Firefox install makes me very uncomfortable. And my primary PC (#2) is still unable to manage that account, or sign in to the support pages.

Missing ALL Firefox Data

I cannot seem to retrieve any of my Firefox data. My bookmarks, plugins, login and password data are just gone. Years of data are gone. There is no "old profile data" and oddly enough none of the profiles have anything in them anyways. I have tried everything suggested and NOTHING has worked. Most people have no clue about the files and folders and definitely shouldn't be moving stuff around as most of the threads have suggested. What is a key3 or 4 file? Why should I have to move it? Where does one move it to? None of the threads on this topic are helpful and there's no way to just ask a person who works here? Considering this seems to happen to a lot of people it should be made much easier to do. I can't even import my old logins from Safari. Is years of my data just gone? If Im signed into my Firefox account shouldn't it be there, or what is the point of having one? I need a very easy solution to this extremely frustrating issue.

I can repeat this at will. I will try disabling the conversations bar using another browser and then update to see if that helps (it's not crashing when I view my work gmail).

Problem: FIrefox suddenly quit working. Firefox refuses to load anything including local, external, and firefox config pages. When attempting to go to a webpage or config page by pressing the enter button nothing happens and the page is entirely blank. The developer console does not open. After about 2 minutes of not doing anything, it crashes. Issue persists past re-installs. I am unable to submit a bug report as normal(I only have pending crash reports), as when I attempted, it said "something unexpected happened" and then the bug report itself crashes.

Chrome works normally as expected.

Troubleshooting steps taken:

  • Refresh and safe mode
  • Launched in incognito
  • apt-get purge
  • Removing profile
  • removing .mozilla, .adobe, .macromedia, /etc/firefox, firefox-extensions, .cache
  • installing nightly, beta, reinstalled multiple times.

Current workaround: Using chrome

Machine information Ubuntu 20.04.2 Kernel Version: 5.4.0-66-generic

Since about two weeks when I open firefox the browser freezes every few minutes for 10-15 seconds. Launching firefox in Safe Mode or disabling all extensions didn't help. When I open Task Manager during freezes it shows that Firefox is "Not responding" and when I open sub-tasks it's usually one or two causing the problem. When I close those either firefox closes completely or youtube or reddit crashes, leading me to believe it's something with those sites? Refreshing or reinstalling firefox hasn't helped. I'm on Windows 10 (all updates installed) and Firefox 84.0.1 (x64) as of the time writing this.

I hope someone can help and suggest something. I would hate to switch to another browser, but the problem has become unbearable.

Does anyone have experience with this phenomenon:

When you click on a torrent link on a page opened in Firefox 83 (and above), the first window pops up, but the second one (in which uTorrent would come) is no longer. Nothing happens. Specifically, the entry is C: \ ProgramData \ Microsoft \ Windows \ WER \ ReportArchive \ AppCrash_uTorrent.exe....

If I revert to Firefox 82 or 78.6esr, the error will not occur.

If I choose not to download uTorrent but to download the torrent file, it works fine with all versions of Firefox.

I'm currently running Ubuntu 20.04 although this problem began yesterday while I used Ubuntu 18.04. Simply put, I went to sleep on February 26 and on February 27 when I tried to start up firefox I only get the crash reporter. I am able to run 78.8.0esr thankfully, however I would greatly prefer to use the latest version of the browser. I can think of nothing I did between shutting down my browser on the 26 and waking up the next morning. Firefox will not start up in safe mode. I clean install from the snap store or ubuntu repositories has done nothing.

Below is my crash ID and i've attached all the details the crash reporter gives me.

All what I can find is the following: Starter Process is deactivated after error. All details out of Error Report see in Troubleshooting Information

Safe mode also crashes. Headless mode is the only way I found to make it not to crash.

Reviewed "Sheribee" earlier issue which apparently involved a VPN. I do not have a VPN but have tried several times in the past week to access IRS refund status site without success. I can get into irs.gov, but am unsuccessful in accessing the refund status site after entering required input data. The issue has occurred only this past week.

I'm unaware of IRS issues causing this problem.

Have not had this issue on any other sites; and I have successful retrieved data in prior years.

I am not saving any sign on protocols with the irs or any other sites.

Running Windows 10. Thanks for any help. BTW I did get refund information using the telephone, but I want to ensure there's not a hidden conflict of some sort with FireFox. Thanks for any help.

When I turned on my computer this morning a message said I needed to download Firefox Update, so I clicked on that link. About a half hour later after it had also updated Windows 10 a page popped up telling me I had been sent a code to my email that I would need to input. I have not received an email or junk mail with any code. However, it looks like I already have Version 86. Please help me with this issue. I am so overwhelmed with computer issues I'm on the verge of tears right now. My last Windows 10 update Did NOT install and I am not the only one with this issue, but NO help from Microsoft. Did Mozilla update Windows 10 to accept the new version of Firefox? I looked at your educated guess, clicked on Show Details, nothing came up. Then I clicked on Troubleshooting Information and Share Data. This has happened a few times and the only way to remedy it is to reboot the machine.

I am constantly frustrated by unresponsive pages / script warnings etc using Firefox. This never used to happen on previous builds -- I am using the latest 86.0 -- but these occur so often that I am about to say goodbye to Firefox. This does not happen when I am using Chrome and other browsers.

I have been through all of the suggested steps to deal with these unresponsive script/page issues, and none has worked.

Would appreciate any help on this, but as I say I am about to leave Firefox at this point for Chrome and other browsers.
