This evening, I was prompted to update to the latest version of Firefox, so I went ahead with it. I wasn't expecting it to create an entirely new install, rather than overlaying the current one. I went ahead with the instructions to copy info from my old profile to the new, but when I close the new browser and relaunch, none of my old info (bookmarks, open tabs, etc.) is there. I had copied all the files listed in the article.

The old install was to the C: drive. I did not have enough space on C:, so I installed the new to D:. Looks like, in spite of that, the profile files went to the usual location on C:. I don't know if that is the issue or not, but I need some help figuring this out. Grateful for any guidance you can offer.

I've installed Firefox on my MacBook Air laptop, but every time I turn off my computer, the icon to access Firefox disappears from my shortcuts bar and I have to go back to my downloads folder, double click on the "Firefox 75.0.dmg" file and re-install Firefox. Meanwhile, all my bookmarks on Firefox are lost and have to start everything anew like a new customer each day. My membership email is the only thing that is retained therefore day-to-day. I've checked the settings and have even made Firefox my default browser but that hasn't helped. I should add that I also have Express VPN. When I add Firefox to the ExpressVPN's shortcuts, again it stays there only until I turn off the computer. Meanwhile, Google Chrome and my email icons remain on the VPN startup window and don't go away as does Firefox. Jacob

I am making Firefox (Windows 10) available to my organisation by defining a Microsoft Intune line-of-business app. On uploading the enterprise .msi installer to Intune, the [App install context] interestingly is stuck in User mode; cannot select Device mode which suggests the program is not dual mode.

Since it installs to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ I thought that's a device-wide installation? Is there something I am missing to make it per-machine (device) instead of per-user?

How do I uninstall multiple older versions of Firefox?

I've tried multiple ways to uninstall old Firefox versions. There are five showing 59.0.2, 59.0.3, 60.0.1, 61.0, 62.0.2, and the current active version 76.0.1 all are 64-… (læs mere)

I've tried multiple ways to uninstall old Firefox versions. There are five showing 59.0.2, 59.0.3, 60.0.1, 61.0, 62.0.2, and the current active version 76.0.1 all are 64-bit. Simply clicking or right-clicking on the application name and choosing to uninstall doesn't work.

Actually logged on as Administrator (not Run As...). From Settings, Apps, Apps & Features, click Mozilla Firefox 59.0.2 (x64 en-US), click uninstall, error called "kernel32::GetLongPathNameW9w R8, w .R7, i 1024)i .R6\uninstall\helper.exe" and below that a message "This file does not have an app associated with it for performing this action. Please install an app or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Apps Settings page."

Again, actually logged on as Administrator (not Run As...). I go to Control Panel, right-click an old version, message"You do not have sufficient access to uninstall Mozilla Firefox 59.0.2 (x64 en-US). Please contact your system administrator"

As Admin Powershell command: Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_Product | Select-Object -Property Name . But it would not show any Mozilla applications installed.

We currently would like to upgrade our centrally installed Firefox ESR version and would like users to keep their settings and be disrupted minimally. Specifically we would like to upgrade from 68.4.2 to the current 68.8.

I am aware that as of Firefox 67 a dedicated profile version is used for each Firefox version (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/dedicated-profiles-firefox-installation).

I had assumed that as it is only a minor upgrade of the same ESR version a new profile would not be necessary, however it creates a new empty profile by default.

The suggested solution to use Firefox Sync is not an option as creating Firefox Sync accounts for all our users would even be more overhead.

Is it indended behaviour that new profiles are created for the same ESR (major) version? Is there a simple way to migrate existing profiles?

Thanks.

Firefox loads, runs, but will not open web sites. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times.

At one point I got when during installation, I got error

"The code execution cannot proceed because VCRuntime140...1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

I reinstalled runtime dll from microsoft web site.

Now after firefox installation, Firefox opens but simply will not download any web sites. All other browsers do with no problem. However, I prefer firefox and would like to get this problem fixed.

I have updated FF every time a new version comes out. I'm on FF 76.0.1 for MacOS.

Several websites "warn" me that I'm on an unsupported version of FF, and to update to the newest version. Some sites won't even let me continue, but only give me the option to close the tab, or go to the Mozilla site to download the newest version.

I've seen the response to a Windows user with the similar problem, and have gone through all the steps of checking general.useragent.compatMode.firefox and it's set to "false" and none of the settings needed to be changed. I also checked the privacy.resistFingerprinting and it is set to "false".

I'm tired of websites thinking I'm using FF 56, when I'm using FF 76.0.1!! MacBook Pro mid-2014, OSX 10.14.6 Mojave, 16 GB RAM DDR3, 2.8GHz Intel Core i7, Firefox 76.0.1 (64-bit).

Installed plugins include Shockwave Flash as noted, but there are a few websites I use for work that stubbornly still require Flash :(

For 3 days I have been trying to install Firefox. Firefox dowloads and starts installing. I have set Firefox as my default browser and turned off antivirus to not interfere with the install. It appears to install and then gives an error message that the address of the download file is incorrect (see attached JPG). I sometimes get a message about a file being corrupted (roughly one time in each five tries) also shown in the JPG. I have tried clean installs at least a dozen times (delete the programfiles/mozilla node and then do a fresh download. After clicking download have selected both run and save multiple times. I always get the error message about a bad address. Any help would be greatly apprediated. Thanks.

Auto-update consequences: Unwanted (regional) search engines, despite having en-US set as my locale, and partially reset browser settings

Hello everyone, Today my Windows 10 and Firefox browser have automatically updated themselves, which is totally fine, however, to my shock, when I started the browser, I … (læs mere)

Hello everyone,

Today my Windows 10 and Firefox browser have automatically updated themselves, which is totally fine, however, to my shock, when I started the browser, I found out that my default search engine was replaced by "Yandex", as well as "eBay" was added to the list of search engines, and I always had only Google (default), Bing and DuckDuckGo. I did not consent to this, nor I was warned that was going to happen. It's important to note that while I'm currently residing in Russia and therefore have a Russian IP address, all my programs, my OS and Firefox were set to use English as the default and only language, and I had everything pointing to United States as my only choice of region/location/language in the Windows regional settings. Also, further digging reveled that these were not the only settings that were reset. Among them were ALL privacy settings, toolbar & UI customizations, and Pocket has raised from the dead, despite being completely switched off with about:config settings. And I am yet to discover how many other about:config settings were reset as well. The history, downloads and bookmarks all seem to be unaffected and in place and order.

I know what the first reply is going to be: "You've got a virus, bud", but before anyone jumps to a conclusion that I've indeed got a virus/malware/whatever, absolutely the same thing has happened on my Linux install as well. No, it isn't a virus, at least on my end. It appears that Mozilla is the one engaging in such behavior. How else would you explain that both installs, one of which came from the official Mozilla's FTP, and the other one is from the official Arch repos, are both poisoned by this?! And guess what, I tried to replicate this in a virtual machine — absolutely the same result! All of the regional settings and the guest OS are set to English (United States), but I still get what I now call a "regional inconvenience and overall experience downgrade pack".

I'd really like to hear an explanation as to why this happens and possibly have a responsible person's attention to the matter, or at least be able to file a bug report (if it is a bug, which I doubt it is — take a look at the paragraph above). But regardless of that I believe that such behavior on Mozilla's end is intolerable, infuriating and disrespectful to both users' settings and the users themselves, which is not how I remember Mozilla, when I started using Firefox (that was around when 1.5 came out).

Now, a message to Mozilla: If this continues, and if this is how Mozilla envisioned the future of Firefox, I'm afraid it's time for us to part ways and either use a fork that doesn't do this, or join the evil forces of IE6 2.0... whoops, I meant Chromium/Blink.

You were indeed fighting for our freedoms back in the day, but apparently you are now fighting only for your monetary gains by pre-installing such regional inconvenience and overall experience downgrade packs. If I have an English (US) OS, but live in another country, I still want to have the same experience as English (US) users who are in the US. I don't need such "convenience". You need to understand something: nobody does! If they do have an urge to use a vanda...-"regionalized" browser; they'd download an appropriate version and happily use it with their favorite search engine! Whereas me, and people like me can't, because you are forcing the same experience onto us. I've spent 15 years with Firefox and I wouldn't want to abandon using this amazing browser, but please, change your ways and consider your partnerships. Otherwise I want to do nothing with a browser that respects neither my settings, nor me.
