Hi. Yesterday something weird and unexpected happened to my Firefox and amongst other things it lost all my open tabs, of which there was about 70 or so. Another strange thing which happened is a website I use turned into Japanese language all on its own and in the end I was forced to delete cookies for that website to revert it to English, even though it was never changed in the first place. My homepage shortcut tiles were also all rearranged and some deleted. I have no idea what caused all this, but the biggest issue for me is that I lost all my open tabs. I refreshed Firefox to try to cleanse whatever it was that caused this, but even before this I lost my tabs.

My question here is; I am sure that the history of those open tabs is still listed somewhere on a file and I can get back my previous session which had all the tabs on it, but I have no idea where it is or where to look. How do I do this and where do I find the older file with the open tabs.

Thanks.

In my location, my only option for internet access is a mobile hotspot with limited data. Consequently, I am always mindful of my data usage when using my laptop. Despite primarily browsing static pages, email, and other low-data activities, I often find my data usage higher than anticipated. The main culprit comes to mind to be videos embedded in news articles. Sometimes, with multiple tabs open, I switch to an inactive tab only to find a video playing. Although I've configured my Firefox preferences not to autoplay videos, it seems that YouTube videos still override these settings.

So, my question is, when a tab is inactive, does Firefox stop all data transfer for that tab in the background? And if not, what are the solutions to stop any background data other than continually closing all tabs?

Also, any suggestions on this topic are appreciated, especially from and to users who also live in remote areas without fiber, DSL, etc.

Hello, I am using Firefox on a new computer, and I have a bizarre problem that I never experienced on other computers. The 'recently closed tabs' and 'recently closed windows' options are disabled. They are grey, and I can't click them (see image). Also, the 'reopen closed tab' when you right-click one of the tabs is disabled (grey). I have tried to search everywhere why it can happen and found nothing. Any advice on how to enable this option? Thanks

If you have multiple tabs open and you hit Ctrl-T to open a new one, it opens it at the end of the tabs, and the cursor focus moves to the URL bar so you can start typing in an address/search.

If you right-click on any of those tabs, it opens a new tab to the right of that tab, instead of at the end (which is what I want, as right-clicking on a specific one to open a new tab, to me, means you are linking those tabs in layout and want them together) BUT the cursor focus DOES NOT move to the URL bar.

This seems pretty counter-intuitive, and means that so many times I right-click, Open New Tab, and start typing a URL and then see that I have to stop typing, click in the URL bar, and start typing all over again.

Is there an about:config to force the focus to the URL bar, or is this a bug? If there's no setting for this, I would definitely consider this a bug because you have 2 different behaviors for New Tabs.

I use the Feedbro-Addon, which creates an own tab. Its url is: moz-extension://285d678c-ecb3-4003-923d-835fc9d8e0bc/reader.html

If I use it as a normal tab (instead of a pinned tab) ... it survives a Firefox restart. But if I use it as a pinned tab (which I want) ... it disappears after a Firefox restart.

I suppose it has to do with it being an addon-page instead of a "normal" page.

Is there a way to make it stay permanently pinned?

Hi, I'm using the latest Firefox on a Windows 10 Dell laptop. Typically I have a lot of tabs open - 500+ sometimes. When I think this number of open tabs is getting absurdly large I do some housekeeping and close tabs individually that I do not currently need. Those I might want later I bookmark and then close. When I shutdown my computer I close Firefox first When I close Firefox I get the message "closing 5xx tabs". If there is an option I confirm. When I start my computer again, and then start Firefox, all of the previously open tabs are restored, which is awesome. Less awesome is that all the "housekeeping" individually closed tabs (which were not open when I shut down Firefox) are also restored. How do I prevent these individually closed tabs reopening while still having the tabs which were open at shutdown restored?

Thanks so much.

Sometimes drag functionality stops working. I can't grab a tab to move it to another position or to a new window. (Holding left click on the tab and moving the cursor does nothing). Also, re-merging the tab with another firefox window stops working. (Dragging a tab to a firefox window from another firefox window doesn't merge them. It does nothing) I can right click on the tab and select Move to move it to a new window but dragging stops working. I have to close Firefox and start it again (sometimes twice), then dragging starts working again. This happens multiple times a day. I am on Linux Mint and the version is 126.0 (64-bit). This problematic behavior has only recently began.

I have multiple windows open with multiple tabs on each. Most created before I had a Firefox login (if that makes any difference).

I am upgrading my os on my Mac and somehow either a) keep all the windows with all their tabs open (preferable) or b) easily create some record of what they all are so I could relaunch them if a) is impossible.

How can I do this?

If I have many tabs open, and pull one away, instead of the previous tab saying in focus, it clicks to a different tab.

If I have 5 tabs open:

  1. Tab1
  2. Tab 2
  3. Tab 3
  4. Tab 4
  5. Tab 5

I'm focused on Tab 3. If I pull Tab 5 away, it snaps me into Tab 4 even though I was previously on a different tab.

I think this isn't a bug but not desired?

Hello, sadly I have the problem since a few days that firefox opens a new tab with the same error every time I google something or click on a new page/subpage etc. The URL on the error page is all the time "https://0.0.0.1/" mentention of course a page loading error. I don't know why firefox keeps oppening new tabs with this URL. I allrady tried to use the clearing function and even reinstalled the software, nothing worked. Maybe somebody can help me solving this problem, it is very annoying to have multiple new error-tabs per minute in a normal work flow. Thanks and best regards, Thomas

Hello,

Recently Firefox tends to start autoplaying a YouTube video if I am on the tab.

Before it would not play the video if i am on the tab unless I physically press play.

It still works if I open a YouTube video in a tab that is not active, it will not autoplay, but as soon as I hover over and click on that tab it will start playing, however I do not want this to happen, I want it to pretty much always be autoplay blocked regardless if tab is active or not and I want to physically press play in order for it to start.

How to revert it to that state?

My block audio and video setting in firefox is already turned on, not sure what to do, pretty sure I did nothing on my end.

Right now I have to use extension called "disable autoplay" just to get by.

Thanks guys!

Since my last Firefox update, tabs crash or freeze and cannot be resolved. Each time, I have to shut down Firefox to open a tab. This makes shopping impossible as links to payments do not respond or say they are loading but never load. I have tried all the possible solutions and fixes mentioned on here but nothing is working. I have never had any trouble with Firefox before so this is a pain.
