Hello, I have problem with firefox. When I try download from facebook page files .docx, .xlsx (Microsoft Office) Firefox automatically download it as PDF and file is broken. I don't know how to repair this. Please help, it is very frustrating.

i need some help with my firefox browser. all of a sudden my firefox browser wont download any files from anywhere but if i try to use the save image as on an image firefox would download them. weirdest thing is other browsers are fine when downloading files.

I did lost all history data after a previous update, my user got corrupted data and somehow I did manage to import the info into Edge browser. To my surprise after I reinstalled a clean Firefox, it only imported back 3 months of browsing history. Topically, average user keep a computer 3-4 years.. I don't know from where developers came with the idea of limiting to such a shot interval. I have thousands of browsing history links from more that 10 years kept and I need them all.

Tried to increase the number from about:config, but there is an option only for Chrome which I never used and always hate :)

I did installed Chrome to convince myself about it's ingenuity, even if it was not necessary. It does have import option only from Microsoft Explorer, no Edge.

If there is a solution for importing a longer period and high number of entries, please share it.

I'm not an IT expert, but I can manage consoles if there is an even deeper option to modify config files.

Hi, so sorry for the delay and inconvenience caused by this matter, I’m new to all of this and not sure what I did or have done to create this giant mess I have for myself, but I need some help! Seems that my computer doesn’t work correctly anymore, nor do my phone's. Somehow I joined this and need to fix everything. Thanks for your help!

When attempting to install a "clean" verison (delete old, install new) I get an error message about using the firefox removal tool. Where do I get it and how do I remove the old one and install a newest version?

I cannot even download firefox because im getting an error message " cannot create temp archive folder" It wont even launch the install files. Something orgininally happened to firefox on my computer because i wasnt able to download anything with the browser download manager. I need help

I have had the option "Check for updates but let you choose to install them" selected for some time, because when FF auto-updates my system becomes unstable. Despite that version 126.0.1 (64-bit) was automatically installed. Which I only found out about because after causing FF to freeze, and basically crashing the work I was doing, and forcing me to kill the task with task manager, I get the "FF is installing your update and will start in a few minutes" at restart.

After looking thru the help forums I have set app.update.background.enabled and app.update.background.scheduling.enabled to false. (They were both true despite the setting selected.)

Two things:

1. I DO want to be notified when updates are available. I just don't want them to happen at your convenience. Will I still be notified of updates with these config parameters set to false?

2. If you have a setting that says "Don't Update" and I select that option, you should not update. There is clearly a problem somewhere.

(Windows reinstall via Microsoft's cloud reset "save my data" option specified... though some stuff got wiped out due to hard drive issues)

I always had one version of Firefox installed. I regularly update the software via Help >> About Still, after every update, I am getting multiple versions of Firefox listed at [Settings/Installed Apps] and [Control Panel/Uninstall or remove apps] on my Win11 23H2 22631.3593 (screenshot attached).

In order to get rid of outdated items from the list, I need to reinstall Firefox completely, but the same thing is happening with every update of Firefox.

Is there a way to resolve this and why is this happening?

I restarted my Windows 11 laptop and got error message about user profile. Restarted again and looks like it was corrupted so deleted my my user profile and Firefox config and bookmarks are gone!

Still have all the files just a new user profile and the old one is gone?

Any help how to get Firefox bookmarks back would be much appreciated

I cannot download any files or any adons through firefox. I have tried every single troubleshooting method in the "What to do if you can't download or save files" article I have restarted my computer, I have refreshed firefox, I have reinstalled firefox TWICE, I have turned off my firewall and tried downloading a file, I have changed the wifi im connected to, I can download files on internet explorer just fine, I have tried a new profile, I have scanned my device for viruses (theres none), I have no idea what the troubleshooting mode is supposed to do because I cannot download files in that either. I currently have no ad-ons installed because of the refresh I dont know what else to do and why is my firefox doing this, it started yesterday.

On Mac OS 14.4 Firefox hangs on launch and crashes, requiring "Force Quit" when I try to Refresh or Troubleshoot. Uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, and restarted computer several times. Have spent several hours trying multiple community suggestions to now avail.

I am not a programmer, but am able to follow instructions. I clearly need someone to hold my hand and walk me through the solution. (I even checked out the Kaspersky suggestion, but cannot install it because Firefox cannot connect to the Internet.)

I have downloaded and saved "Raw Data.docx" and "Application Basics tex.docx" from one of the crash reports.

P.S. On this question form Firefox guessed that my operation system was Mac OS x 10_15_7, but it is 14.4
