I suspect this has something to do with our old mail-server and changing the minimum level for TLS to TLSv1.2

In version 91 there is no ≡ > Options > Find in Options to get to the Config Editor. How is that done now ?

I am running Windows 7 and have Thunderbird 91.10. Just went through your instructions to update to OAuth 2.0 (Well done BTW). When I try to get new documents I am immediately diverted to the log in page for my Google Account. Any suggestions on ways to avoid this? Thanks.

My email address and password were hacked today, so I can't get access to Thunderbird. I contacted my Webmail provider (Telstra - Australia) who have issued a new password that works in Webmail. However, apparently TB is only updated(?) once a month, and until then, my password isn't recognised by TB, so I can't get access to send and receive emails. I hope that makes sense. My questions are: is it true that I may have to wait up to 1 month to get this sorted; if an update is needed, when is the next date this will be done by TB; and is there any way that I can get my password sorted before the next update.

A probably related issue is that my Instagram account was hacked about 3 days ago and I got a scam email saying that my laptop had been accessed.

I'm trying to add a new account with my student email that is basically a gmail with a different name. When I try to create the account, Thunderbird launches the website that asks for my username and email. That same website will accept my password when using a browser but when Thunderbird opens it will not accept it. I've checked several times, I've even copied the exact same username and password from the browser to Thunderbird and TBird says that it's a wrong password and it absolutely is the right password. I tried to cancel the process so that the account is created nonetheless but when I click on it, Tbird will still try to open that website and will not accept the correct password. Please help!

I've created the App password on https://account.live.com/proofs/AppPassword In Thunderbird I create a new account and I enter my hotmail.com email and the created password

The password is not accepted.

I search here for help but it seems not to work in the described way

I am trying to set up the calendar in Thunderbird for my mother. She uses a google calendar and it is working fine on the old computer.

However, on the new one, it lets me get as far as trying to select a calendar to subscribe to be the list is blank.

In trying to troubleshoot, I tried setting up my own calendar on a different computer and the same is happening.

Mother's is a Windows 11 and mine is a Windows 10.

In troubleshooting I came across a post that suggested that I open the dev console and by golly there is an error there.

Where is/how do you set the calendar to use OAuth 2.0?

Email works fine is already set to OAuth 2. The calendar on the old computer works fine. Before the "choose account" window opens, it does seem that google trys to open a pop-up to enter the password, but the window closes and the "choose calendar" window that is blank open. Is this a bug? Can it be fixed?

ThunderBird stopped being able to pick up email from our pop3 server.

The Error console shows:

This doesn't give me a hint as to the problem is with the security certificate. It hasn't changed recently and worked yesterday.

The cert is self-signed and expires in a few days. Previously (not recently) I had to do a variety of things to make Thunderbird happy with it.

I have just installed version 91. I did it after using version 38 to import some old Outlook files and to add details of my accounts. That worked and then I upgraded. the folders are there and the accounts but when I check the email it wants the password each time. I have checked the "use password manager" box but nothing happens - nothing gets stored. Do I have to do something different? (Maybe this is an issue as I see one or two others have similar problems)

I get dozens of emails stating, "It looks like you're using plain-text email" or something to that effect. I see this message when I merely highlight the email in the list but without opening the email by clicking on the list entry. "Allow remote content" is set to off.

with the update to 102, the adaptive junk filter correctly moves spam to the junk folder, but it is no longer marked as junk. that makes the menu option of Tools| Delete mail marked as junk in folder only remove those junk emails that i have manually marked. i have searched and cannot find a setting to reverse this. thanks.

I'm unable to send from gmail in thunderbird. Any help resolving this issue will be much appreciated. I can receive from gmail in thunderbird just fine. I can send from mail.google.com in a browser with no problem. I am unable to set the smtp authentication method to oauth2 in thunderbird. I think this might be part of the problem. Oath2 isn't in the drop-down menu. I'm using POP and am not interested in switching to IMAP. I've attached a screenshot of the smtp settings and the authentication drop-down. I've also attached the Application Basics and Mail and News Accounts sections from the thunderbird troubleshooting info.

My Imac Mojave OS was off for 4 moths.When I turned it on I could not get or receive emaiil.I went through all the steps listed and checked my password and user name and still cannot get email to work.I can get email on the internet from my ISP.

I continually get prompted to enter my password (saved on Thunderbird). When I do enter it, I get the exact same prompt. The other strange bit is after it starts working, it works fine for a few days, sometimes weeks, then I have to go through all this again, so I know my settings are right.

I am trying to insert a HTML signature to my new messages. The HTML file contains a link to the signature file.

When I try to compose the message I get this message: "Thunderbird has blocked a file from loading into this message. Unblocking the file will include it in your sent message." There is a button "Preferences". When I click it, the message says: Unblock file:///home/xxx/yyy/zzz/artwork/email_sign_20160719.png

When I click Unblock, nothing happens.

I have tried to compose manually a new email and insert this image. Menu -> Insert -> Image -> Chose file. Chose the same file.

Same error message and no result when allowing / unblocking this image.

In Settings -> Privacy -> Mail Content -> Allow remote content in messages is checked. There is no exception blocking local file content.

I have added an exception, allowing everything starting with file:/// . No result.

In config editor I have mailnews.message_display.disable_remote_image set to false.

I am out of solutions. This is far beyond a simple method to allow me to attach an image in a signature.

I prefer to use S/MIME to digitally sign my email messages. Prior to Thunderbird 102.3.1, using S/MIME to digitally sign my messages was the default.

Now, for every single email I send, when I click "Send" I get the dialog box "OpenPGP Alert - Cannot digitally sign this message, because you haven’t yet configured end-to-end encryption for <email address>". I have to then select "S/MIME" from the encryption/signature menu.

It's a pain to have to remember to do this for every email I send.

I checked my account settings. "Do not use OpenPGP for this identity" is checked. The correct S/MIME certificate is selected.

How do I set the default signature method to be S/MIME instead of OpenPGP in this new version of Thunderbird?
