Attempting to deploy an extension via GPO and make it so that it cannot be disabled or removed. I cannot seem to find the ID of a certain extension.

Policy = Prevent extensions from being disabled or removed. I enabled the policy and added as many options of the ID as I could find. Not sure the right formatting or address to put. I tried: {93fc56d8-0594-4975-8753-c6d1877053ac} 93fc56d8-0594-4975-8753-c6d1877053ac 93fc56d8-0594-4975-8753-c6d1877053ac@mozilla.org

Nothing worked. Firefox 60 ESR Windows 10 1803

In the reader mode, when I click the "Narrate" and play, only first paragraph will be read. The wave icon is moving, a speaker shows on tab, but no more voice came out. It looks like a crash but happens all the time.

Also, I tried chirpy and got same problem. Is there some setting wrong on my browser?

The MacOS version is 10.13.4; Firefox version 52.8.0 (64-bit) on ESR update channel.

I mistakenly posted the same question on the wrong forum before. Here is the link: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1217053. Hope it helps. Thanks!

Hello,

I'm trying to customize Mozilla ESR Firefox configuration for silent deployment. I need include some language packs and implement automatically changing UI language depending on OS language.

I have copied needful .xpi languages packs to unziped_installer\core\browser\extensions\. It installs with Firefox and visible on tab "Languages" in "about:addons".

Also, I have found parameter, which can change UI language - "intl.locale.requested". Everything works fine, but I have one problem: Installed extensions is disabled after installation.

Also, environment can exist Mozilla Firefox profiles in appdata, which I should not remove.

Could you please advise me how I can enable these extensions after installation or first user runing with help config/preferences or maybe there is some other solution?

Thanks in advance.

Extracted setup installer, created "distribution" directory within core, and added a policies.json file. Installed Firefox 60.1.0esr 64-bit, and created a new firefox profile for testing. Doesn't appear any policies actually apply, including bookmarks, cookies, DisableTelemetry,DisplayBookmarksToolbar,DisplayMenuBar.

Tested individual policies as listed within the README.md file within GitHub, and also tested creating of new policies.json files with the help of a niftly little add-on called "Enterprise Policy Generator".

In troubleshooting, I've done the following: -Uninstall all instances of Firefox, and removed their existing installer directories in Program Files and Program Files (x86) -Removed Mozilla directories from AppData\Local, AppData\LocalLow, and AppData\Roaming -Removed registry keys from HKCU\Software\Mozilla*, and HKLM\Software\Mozilla* -Reinstalled a freshly customized install with only one policy to isolate the issue -Tested other versions of Firefox 60, including Firefox 60.0esr, 60.0rr

Hi, In a Citrix desktop environment, we've installed Firefox as the default browser. When updates are available, users get the popup when opening the browser that an update is waiting. But they can't install the update since the Citrix desktop is a locked environment in which they can only run the apps we allow them to run. We also certainly don't want users to start updating firefox by themselves.

The popup always generates a number of servicedesk calls, but we can't spend the manpower in updating our Citrix environment everytime firefox has an update.

Is there an option to disable the popup?

Hello,

I am trying to install an extension from an external source (security extension who is not on the store), but i have some issues.

Firefox Version: 60.7 ESR (x64) ADMX: 1.7

Configuration: Addons > Allowed Sites: Enabled with the domain url of the editor in the list. Addons > Allow add-on install from websites: Enabled Extensions > Extensions to Install: Enabled with an url like: https://editor.com//extension-fx.xpi xpinstall.signatures.required: False

I can install all extensions from addons.mozilla.org but no extension from an external source (like github for exemple). I am able to install the extension manually, but not with GPO.

Do you have any idea about this issue? Thank you for your help.

Good afternoon Community,

I am a (very new) enterprise admin for a very large organization. We have decided to start distributing Firefox (Quantum Version 68.0 32 bit) across our organization. We utilize a smart card application for logon, and user website authentication. We have every setting exactly how we want it, save one. Each individual user, for each profile they create, will need to upload the .DLL file from our smartcard reader application to the security devices. If this were just a hundred or so users, that would be easy, but we are in the thousands (and more.....). And many of these users are not technically savvy. Is there a way to have a specific library uploaded as a part of building the profile? Sort of like a pre-built default profile. Ideally, we would like to do this with no additional extensions or plugins installed.

Hello,

since the update of Windows 10 to build 1903 Firefox is very slow in all ways. Opening new tabs, opening website, navigating, etc... All other browsers (IE, Edge, Chrome) run smooth. Hardware is HP ZBook 15 G3 with latest drivers/bios already installed.

I created a peformance profile already : https://perfht.ml/2pPbddT

Currently only a few collegues at our IT-department upgraded to this Windows 1903 and all have the same issue. As we need to rollout this Firefox and Windows version soon to the organization , we need a fix.

Thanks.

best regards

Hi, after many days spent to find out how to get my unsigned add-on to work, I'm able to run it only once after first installation.

Here is what I did: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1273813

Add-on works either in debug mode, loaded from file and installed via policies.json until I close browser. Next time I run FF my add-on is not invoked at all.

manifest.json file contains this directive:

 "browser_specific_settings": {
   "gecko": {
     "id": "myaddon@domain.local"
   }
 }

Probably I miss something, but I did not find it in documentation. Any help will be appreciated Thanks in advance

I found how to view browser activity during restart, you can view it here: https://pastebin.com/pB2qBpR2 Thanks

We have the latest Firefox running on our terminal servers on Microsoft Server2012. Each users session has been restricted from accessing any local resources on the server including the c:\ users folder. When opening a file associated with an application I notice Firefox sends the file to the local server drive and the users cannot open the file I have already set the download location to another folder but this gets bypassed by the open with option. Is there any way to force the tmp downlead to another location such as a mapped drive?

Every six months we update firefox to the newest ESR version in our company. Last we did this in December 2019, and now users are complaining that firefox wants to install updates, which requieres admin privileges. To prevent this, we set up the following in a custom cfg file:

lockPref("app.update.auto", false); lockPref("app.update.enabled", false);

But now this setup takes no effect anymore (Neither the preference itself, nor that it should actually be locked). The firefox settings seem to ignore this, for there is absolutely no restriction. Other settings get applied, only the update policy is changeable to whatever the users want.

Am I missing something?
