For years I’ve had no difficulty accessing online my HSBC bank accounts in UK using Firefox. In recent days they have changed their security access method whereby their site now requests a security number generated on one’s phone using the HSBC App (it used to be a random number from an HSBC supplied handheld device) which then has to be input via my Windows 10 PC to access my data. If I use Microsoft Edge as browser, everything works fine, but when I try Firefox my system just hangs after I’ve put my bank ID into the HSBC opening page (the first security step) and simply never opens the next HSBC page which would ask me to generate the said code on my phone. Seems a browser related problem. Any ideas why Edge works but Firefox does not?

I opened Firefox as usually, but passwords are missing, only logins are available. There is also a file called logins.json-1.corrupt in the profile folder.

Renaming it back to logins.json with restarting the computer does not work.

There are no previous versions of these two files available in the system.

Please let me know how I can recover passwords, may be with a special software.

Hi, I don't like everytime I visited sites and closing that tab it auto show in home page. Yes, I know I set it by the time I closing the browser it clear it. I'm browsing in Android phone. I only like homepage show my manually add sites' shortcut. Nothing alse.

I suspect this has something to do with our old mail-server and changing the minimum level for TLS to TLSv1.2

In version 91 there is no ≡ > Options > Find in Options to get to the Config Editor. How is that done now ?

I have been using Thunderbird for several years for my GMail accounts, and have always preferred to download my messages using the POP and SMTP protocols, rather than use the IMAP protocol which leaves them all on the web. How can I prepare for them and still use the POP and SMTP protocols after that date? Is OAuth 2.0 appropriate?

My email address and password were hacked today, so I can't get access to Thunderbird. I contacted my Webmail provider (Telstra - Australia) who have issued a new password that works in Webmail. However, apparently TB is only updated(?) once a month, and until then, my password isn't recognised by TB, so I can't get access to send and receive emails. I hope that makes sense. My questions are: is it true that I may have to wait up to 1 month to get this sorted; if an update is needed, when is the next date this will be done by TB; and is there any way that I can get my password sorted before the next update.

A probably related issue is that my Instagram account was hacked about 3 days ago and I got a scam email saying that my laptop had been accessed.

I have spent hours trying to unblock a site i have previously used before your upgrade. every time its a nightmare. Why can't your program remember exceptions. I tried all the exception options. I tried adding the certificate exception and was told it was valid and did not need an exception. Why does everyone feel the need to make our lives harder with the illusion you are protecting us. I'm using Thunderbird for gmail in IMAP mode. In my IMAP folder, I have a Junk subfolder, and in my Gmail subfolder I have a Spam subfolder. What is the difference between these? Does Gmail determine Spam, and Thunderbird determine Junk? Are BOTH Spam and Junk used for the Thunderbird adaptive junk filter log?

I am getting daily phishing emails from .gmail where there are obviously no Google controls to prevent. How can I block the entire domain in Thunderbird? Thanks

I, like a gjillion other people, received a notice from Google/gmail saying I'm likely to lose access through Thunderbird unless ... blah blah.

I was running TB v59. If stuff works I don't make changes. It makes life simpler. I did a heap of online reading and research about this and found lots of advice. I did the following;

• allowed cookies
• removed passwords
• changed authentication to OAuth2 in both IMAP and SMTP

I got the pop-up gmail/Google window asking me to login. My password is accepted. I am asked to allow access to gmail through Thunderbird. I allow. TB hangs sending security information and then crashes.

I assumed that it must be because I was on an older version of TB. I updated to the latest v91 and checked that the OAuth2 settings are as they should be. All good.

TB waits of a bit and pops up a failure notification. This happens every time. If I click on "Get Messages" or I click on any of my folders, I get the gmail login popup, and I am asked to allow TB, AGAIN, and then failure. I cannot get past this.

I have done enough searching again, but I cannot find anything that helps. Can anyone here help with some guidance please.

Frontier.com Internet Service UNTIL they unfortunately hired the disorganized YAHOO-Server Service: this UNFRIENDLY YAHOO is once-in-a while interfering when I'm trying to LOGIN to my DEFAULT(!) THUNDERBIRD ...does NOT ALLOW me to LOGIN to THUNDERBIRD AT ALL ...ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!!! Hi, I tried to download a script but Firefox warned me it had a virus / malware. So I immediately put it in trash, emptied trash, restarted my Macbook and used Bitdefender to scan my Mac. Fortunately it detected no viruses. So I think I'm good (Hopefully!)

But, every time I open Firefox now, a little window appears at the top showing my last download and telling me it had a virus or malware - I'm posting a screenshot of this. I removed it from my history, and cleared the preview panel, but it still pops up. To be clear, this only happens when I completely close Firefox and reopen it, not when I just open new windows or tabs.

How can I get it to stop popping up with this message? Also - one other oddity, each time I open Firefox, it says the time this script was downloaded matches the time I open Firefox (as opposed to when I actually downloaded the pdf - about an hour ago)

My Imac Mojave OS was off for 4 moths.When I turned it on I could not get or receive emaiil.I went through all the steps listed and checked my password and user name and still cannot get email to work.I can get email on the internet from my ISP.

How can I stop Firefox from asking for the master password for bookmarks on start up? Often I don't need to use a password. It is very annoying and I think it is dangerous because then if I step away anyone has the use of my passwords. Firefox used to only ask when you needed to use a password to login to a site. I think this change is dangerous.
