Sorry folks, this is really confusing for me and it kind of snuck up on me like fading breaks on a car.

"This" computer is my main one and I use it the most.

I load youtube and get the usual list of suggestions. If I moved my mouse over any, they would start to play and I would "preview" them on that screen. I could select if I wanted the audio and subtitles.

All was good.

Fire fox has updated and the O/S has also over time and "recently" the "preview" stopped. (Oh well. Such is life.) I didn't think much of it.

Then the other day I was on ANOTHER machine (different O/S, similar/same plugins) and loaded youtube just for the sake of it and as I moved the mouse over the clips: I got the "preview".

I've shared the data from this machine. Kind of difficult to do it in/on THIS post from the OTHER machine also.

For clarity: It used to work. I didn't change any settings in any of the plugins/addons or FF settings. They were "working" as I wanted and so there was no reason to change them. I am guessing this is a "easy thing to fix" but the specifics of what I need to do is beyond me at this point.

I'd appreciate some guidance in how t find the difference between the two machine's settings so I can get the preview to work again.

Just to put it out there too: I have a "squillion" tabs open. They all seem to work and unless I really get carried away with things, Firefox 95% of the time behaves itself. Now and then it "locks up" and stops responding. The best solution is a total reboot and restart.

I have two browsers installed Firefox and Chrome. Firefox has problems with an ever increasing number of websites (that are switching to Akamai Edgesuite) while Chrome marches on without issues.

I recently discovered the Browser User Agent identification string that is used by the server to determine what browser it is talking to. This is useful for serving content correctly to different types of devices like a phone or PC. You can find your Browser User Agent string here:

So thinking that this might be Firefox's problem I copied the string from my working Chrome installation and added it to Firefox. Unfortunately the issue continues.

So somehow Edgesuite is using something MORE than just the user agent string to kick Firefox to the curb. Does anyone have any clues as to what this might be and how to get Firefox in the good graces of Edgesuite?

On entering a search into the search box on firefox home screen with google selected the resulting display is just computer code (looks like this: (�/�Xx<�l�/�F$�O�6
g�W��wd) selecting a different search engine or going to google.com works just fine. How do I fix this?

I'm getting totally disgusted with Firefox, Windows 11. FF updates automatically. More and more websites will not open when I'm using the browser, and they open just fine when I switch to another. Since I have used Firefox ever since its inception, it's extremely distressing. It doesn't matter if I turn off ad blocking and tracking software. The latest site that won't open is Substack, which works perfectly okay using the Brave browser. This is probably the 10 instance this month of a website that does not work with FF, including once that always did work just fine.

Other changes are also annoying, but I'll save them for another complaint.

Lately when following links from google searches to some sites I get a "can't find" or "access not allowed". These sites tend to be hardware stores - specifically Home Depot or Lowes and some times Walmart. It is NOT my OS!! Because I copy the URL and paste it into Chrome and it works just fine.

Obviously switching to Chrome would solve this issue - but I've used Firefox for years and prefer to stick with it.

What's changing out there that is causing these incompatibilities?

when i open shorts on youtube for example, the screen tilts after the 3rd video. i have to close the window then restart it, so it works. however, it continues to do the same later.

also, i am not being able to scroll down through facebook nor linked in. but on other search engines such as edge or chrome, everything works seamlessly

Emails viewed in Firefox with Link to YouTube wants me to log in to YouTube when I click on the link in the email.

I receive a weekly email with a featured bird that when clicked should show me a video of that bird. Before the most recent FireFox update I would get a page that wanted me to log in to YouTube; but, there was no way to do so. Now since the update it works-takes me to the video and runs the video.

Was not working last week but since an update it does work. This is an on and off again problem. I have contacted the people who compose the video with no solution on their part; but, in a few days or weeks when you update your browser it will work! Then with another update it won't work. Off again and on again.

some special characters that i distinctly remember being able to see before are now no longer showing up properly. i'm a fanatic about ancient/prehistoric scripts and was able to see the scripts on the Baybayin Wikipedia page, but i think a few updates ago made this no longer true.

i'm able to see things on other browsers and even in the right-click menu as i have the font needed to see everything installed onto my system (win 10, i dont have security updates enabled. the font is noto sans tagalog, and i've already reinstalled it twice). the setting to allow pages to use their own fonts doesn't seem to do anything, either.

confusingly this is not a problem on my macOS device, where the same page renders correctly without me needing to download any font (i mean, as far as i remember). i think this implies this has something to do with windows, but i'd like to ask in here first.

I am using my macbook air 2020 with the Apple M1 chip and the OS is Sonoma 14.7.4, to try and log in to Poshmark.ca https://poshmark.ca/ using my Google credentials and the screen looks like it is going to log in but then goes back to the main screen. I deleted the cookies for the site, but that did not work. I am not sure what else to do? Can you help me?

When I try to log into twitter (X) I get a pop up saying I'm blocked due to suspicious log in activity, that I have tried to log in too many times. I had not tried to log in for days. I do not get this message and can log into X on other platforms, including chrome and Edge. I prefer to use Firefox. This started happening after I uploaded the newest Firefox upgrade on 3/3/26, I run windows 10.

Why do I today get the message "We have received an unusually large amount of requests from your IP so you have been rate limited" when I try and access https://www.trustpilot.com. I have not had it before today and do not get it when I use a different browser (Edge).

I'm trying to fill a module online, but I keep getting this error message: "JavaScript has been disabled, the form requires JavaScript to validate properly. Please enable JavaScript through Preferences under the Edit menu and reopen the form." I tried following the instructions and also explored every other possibility described in support sections and such but didn't fix the issue. Any other way to solve the problem?

Re-occuring Captcha message when i attempt to sign into Facebook. .. 3 days now .... why ??

148.0 disabled access to my banking site - same in 149.0. Sign-in screen OK, then a blank page! Site has "additional Permissions" and shows certified. Have to use Edge to access, Suggestions?'

Takes up to 30 minutes to sign in to my online banking account. Sign in with user id and password, get a "swirlly" for a long time, little messages at the left bottom of screen, when the screen finally appears, the graphics display as place hold words which make no sense. Contacted AllegacyFCU and they say it's on your side . . . recommend Chrome? I'm running Win 11Pro. Edge goes right in.

AirTable.com online app attached documents are downloading when selected to view. Not a problem in 148. Not happening on other browsers.
