Hi, I sent an email this morning (29 August 2024) with another email attached. When I checked the sent folder, the email had converted to some code, I can't interpret.

I checked with a recipient and she said the email was OK, so the problem is at my end. Fortunately, the sent item looks OK on my iPhone.

Emails hidden for privacy reasons

Dzień dobry, przy każdym wysłaniu wiadomości, zawiesza się thunderbird, nie ma znaczenia czy są to wiadomości z załącznikiem, dużym czy małym czy nawet pusta wiadomość. Do momentu jej wysłania - program wisi i nic nie można zrobić ... Ma thunderbirda od 2015r. pracował do tej pory bez żadnych problemów. Mam na nim 5 różnych kont, wszystko działało perfekcyjnie dopiero od 2 - 3 tygodni tak się dzieje i jest to bardzo uciążliwe. Jedyne co zrobiłem, to ze względu na dużą liczbę wiadomości na jednym z kont utworzyłem kopię wysłanych wiadomości w folderze lokalnym (wiadomości do 2023 roku do grudnia) nic więcej nie zmieniałem. Oczywiście tnie bez względu z którego konta wysyłam wiadomości .... Nie da się tak żyć.... Pomocy!

I am running Thunderbird ver 128.1.1esr (32-bit) on a WIndows 10 PC. Yesterday I noticed that emails from mid-December 2021 thru August 24, 2024 from my main email address Inbox had gone missing. Emails from noon on August 25, 2024 thru today are present.

I have about 80 sub or subsub-folders to the Inbox where I sort some of the emails mostly by filters but also some manually. As far as I have noticed, none of the emails in the subfolders are missing. The Inbox (with emails from 1/1/20 thru 12/10/21) shows about 3,200 emails (this excludes those in the subfolders). My guess is that about 7,000 emails might be missing.

The missing emails were not in any Trash or other folders, or in the recycle bin.

The Trash folder for the Inbox has about 1,300 emails going back to March 2024 - all of which I had deleted

I have Inboxes from 4 other email addresses operating in Thunderbird, and none of those have been affected

I do a complete backup of my hard drive every night, so if there is a file that would have the missing emails, I should be able to recover them

     1) Any ideas why the emails disappeared.

     2) What steps can I take to recover the emails from my backups, or other.

Thunder bird on windows (115.10.1) freezes with a not responding message when a few delete messages are made. Earlier it used to scroll to some random location on the screen. now it freezes for a long while. Is this a bug to be fixed or something wrong at my end?

emails stopped coming after update 21/8/2024 on this windows desktop but still come in on other windows desktop. Cycled modems, rang internet provider and computer shop where purchased and they all blamed firefox. how to fix or do I need to change to outlook?

Thunderbird Portable v115.9.0 may be the last working version that allowed multiple sessions and versions to run at the same time. I tested it and it worked.

Thunderbird Email v115.11.0 is definitely broke for Multi-Instance Sessions. I tested it and it does not work.

So perhaps somewhere between v115.10.0 and v115.10.2 Multi-Instance functionality was broken on the portable version of the Thunderbird Email App.

I have thunderbird 128.1.1 load on my computer. Every time it loads it asks for the pop.gmail password. I just had to change all my gmail passwords for fraud protection.

Thunderbird will not accept the new passwords, keeps returning to the the same screen. Recognized that password from google had been changed, but won't accept any passwords from google

Not running firewall, VPN or antivirus program.

Even when I had to change signature information in accounts, it does not keep the data like I was never there. I had 1 gmail account I added and next time I opened thunderbird it was not there.

I want to add my voice to the myriad complaints that have already been posted about the way Thunderbird has started threading messages!

I loathe threading!

Like many others, I do not understand why there is not a simple menu option, or something in the settings, that lets me turn OFF threading, permanently, in every folder of every account.

There are so many complaints about this that I just had to stop reading them after half an hour. I agree with most of them, so I won't reiterate every single point. I couldn't see any poster defending threading, and I couldn't see anything from a developer explaining why this is forced on users. Is it simply a matter of the developers themselves liking it, and not caring what the user base thinks? I respect the developers. I respect Linus Torvalds too, but I don't hesitate to call him out when he says something really dumb, which he does depressingly often. Being a developer gives you the right to control a product, but it does not make you right.

I am a monthly financial contributor to Thunderbird. I have used it for many years. But this is a deal-breaker for me. If a solution to this problem isn't forthcoming, *soon*, I will abandon ship. The withdrawal of my small monthly financial support won't hurt the team. I only mention it to establish that I have been a committed Thunderbird user who demonstrates that commitment in practical terms.

About once a week, Thunderbird displays the message "23,000 e-mails deleted from inbox" and starts downloading all the e-mail headers again for the IMAP account. It takes a while to do that, during which Thunderbird's response becomes sluggish. How can I stop it from doing that? It seems to me that once email headers have been downloaded, they should stay downloaded, and there should be no need to download them again.

I quite literally feel like an IDIOT!!! All I want to do is send a [BCC:] Email to a Group I created in my Thunderbird Address Book, and I can't figure it out! And a Google search was ZERO HELP! WHAT AM I MISSING!!!??? HELP!!! I am using Version 1.128.1esr

I began using Thunderbird several weeks ago, beginning with the previous version and upgrading to the new one. From the beginning, Thunderbird hangs every couple of minutes, whether I'm navigating or composing a reply. It doesn't shut down, it just stops working, often with "Not Responding" in the title bar. It usually comes back within 5-10 seconds. It did this when I was in Troubleshoot mode.

I've seen suggestions to see what happens in Safe Mode. I hate using Safe Mode, so I'm hoping for another suggestion or test to do in regular mode before I go that route. Kami

As the title says, how do I remove Templates and Archive folders? This post does not have an answer, and this extension does not work.

I have tried deleting the files from the folder and restarting, but they just get recreated: C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\profile\Mail\smart mailboxes

I have unsubscribed from the Archive folder in my accounts settings and deleted them from my mail server. Templates does not even exist on my mail server.

See attached picture, but these are annoying as I don't use them and they just take up space and are distracting.

Any ideas?

I'm seeing strange coding or gibberish in emails. Here is an example. I have at least a dozen more:

However, this is property displayed like the attachment I'm including below, in Mac Mail.

This strange behavior does not occur in the same email on Mac Mail, where it looks completely normal.

The vertical layout is basically fine for me, but what I'd really like is to be able to re-order the panes so that they're in the layout "Message List" - Message - Folders. The email itself is the most important bit, and I'd like to have it in the center of my view, instead of way off to the right :)

Is it possible to do this? My search skills have failed me so far.

Copies & folders and the composition and addressing are not shown in account settings. I have messed up my account settings and cannot figure out how to correct it.

I've been using Thunderbird for the last 5-6 years with three different iMap Gmail accounts, a hotmail account and two other work email accounts. Been seeing a pop up the last few days that my folders cannot be compacted due to lack of disk space. I started looking around and found that my Thunderbird folder is approaching 750GB. From what I read in the forums this may be due to copies of emails being stored on my local device and/or temporary files that are created when attempting to compact folders and not being successful. My question is what files can I delete that will not remove any of the emails in the imap accounts? Do I even need to delete anything or can I just uncheck the box in Synchronization & Storage that says Keep messages in all folders for this account on this computer? I am running Thunderbird 128.1.1esr(64-bit).

Any help would be much appreciated.
