lets try a couple of simple things.

Open settings from the menu and search for the term hardware. Turn the use of hardware acceleration off when the setting appears.

Not working still.

Hold the shift key while starting Thunderbird and continue in troubleshooting mode when prompted. Anything different now?

From within composition window, click View>Toolbars and tick Composition toolbar. That should cause the Send button to appear.

It seems the only way is to use ctrl+enter to send and this doesn't always work :) I couldn't find composition? Now I have no file section?

By 'composition window', I was referring to the window used to write emails. When you have window up where you compose emails, click view>toolbars>composition toolbar. That has the 'send' button on it.

Thanks David, but there are no options? The senders line etc are all there with the blank page to write in what the message will be etc but no files to use above these just vague grey? But I can compose a message and send it using ctrl and enter and it will go to check spelling and once this is done there is a box that then has a send box? And it does get sent? But this is not the normal procedure I have used for many years? I tried prt screen but cannot share it? Sometimes doing it this way it doesn't work so I have to check the sent file to see :) Regards John

Try pressing F10 and see if a menu bar appears at the top. (It should, if it is not already displayed) Then use the menu. I recommend you turn on ALL of the toolbars. I am also a fan of the customize option and adding quote and contacts.

No Matt, F10 does nothing still a washed out grey and no files at the top, no tools, view only CC, bcc it seems to remember addresses for sending and can write message but still need to use ctrl +enter to send. I have tried Print screen and saved the image of it but cannot load the file? Keep getting error? Scared to try reloading it as I have too many files and addresses I would rather not have to redo :) Whether something from a microsoft update had anything to do with it? maybe I try and keep up with them but it just changed on its own? John

Save your image as a PNG file in windows paint and then try uploading it here.

Matt this is what a new write page looks like :) As I have said I can still use it and it does fill in addresses but to send requires ctrl and enter which will do a spell check box and when complete offer a send button that appears to work! John
