Photos rotated through 90° since last FF upgrade
I have a website which has been running fine for over 10 years now. On it I write about Whisk(e)y and for each review I like to add a picture or two. The pictures have all been taken by me, mostly with my Nikon D200 or D300.
Sice the last Firefox upgrade (in the last week) many of my photos have suddenly been turned through 90° on the site. The pictures themselves haven't been changed, just the viewing of them and we're talking about many hundreds of pictures. I don't know what your rules are about posting links but if you want to see the problem my website is non-commercial and called Whisky-Emporium. BTW the problem doesn't exist in Explorer but I don't like using that. Thanks in advance.

Right. Following Chrome, Firefox 77 has changed the default value of the image-orientation CSS property from none to from-image, which uses Exif data stored in JPEG images for rotation.
You have to add to your css file sth like img { image-orientation: none }

Hello,
Actually you said that your stand-alone images are NOT rotated as expected. Please check whether you have a non-default setting here:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste orient and pause while the list is filtered
(3) If the layout.css.image-orientation.enabled preference is bolded and "user set" to false, double-click it to restore the default value of true, then reload an image in another tab and see whether Firefox now rotates as expected

Thanks for the info but that value is set to "True".
I've heard from someone who knows more about websites & browsers than I do and they believe the problem is known to FF as that latest update chenged how photos are handled. Instead of using the actual photo settings FF now looks at the original EXIF data within the photo and uses that. This doesn't help when a photo was taken originally in say portrait format with the camera turned through 90° and the picture then saved on my PC having been rotated back through 90°. If you can understand that?
