I don't have userid containing a quote.

I just want to be able to click on an icon and see a list of my bookmarks (like I used to)

I don't want to type the URL in (I don't know what they are, my typing is crappy, that's why I bookmark them).

How can I get an icon restored that will then display a list of my bookmarks

Do you mean bookmarks bar? Right click on the UI and enable it.

If you mean the Bookmarks Menu you can restore that quite easily, click on the hamburger menu (or Firefox menu) in the top right hand corner, click on Customize Firefox, and drag the Bookmarks Menu back to the User Interface like in the attached screen-shot.

Quick keyboard shortcut to view all bookmarks: Ctrl + Shift + O
