Cancel retrieval of messages or trigger timeout

Hello,

I'm using a VPN and sometimes the VPN connection is not yet fully up, but Thunderbird will try to access my mail. This will lead to it waiting for the timeout to occur, which is super annoying, especially if the VPN connection is up a few seconds later. I wonder if it is possible to trigger the timeout manually or cancel the retrieval of the messages so I can retry it after the VPN connection has been established (and all routes are pushed).

Thanks for your input!

I suggest you set TB to automatically go Offline when it starts, under Tools/Options/Advanced/Network & Disk Space/Offline/Offline..., then manually go Online by clicking the icon at the left end of the Status Bar, or using the File/Offline/Work Offline toggle. Or, maybe it would be more effective to just lower the timeout preference, mailnews.tcptimeout, in Config. editor (Tools/Options/Advanced/General).
