Firefox-এ অনুসন্ধান করার সময় কাঙ্ক্ষিত সাইট না যেতে পারেন তাহলে কী করতে হবে তা এই প্রবন্ধটিতে বলে দেওয়া হয়েছে। যেমনঃ অনেক সময় যেমন Google-এ অনুসন্ধান এমন সব পৃষ্ঠায় নিয়ে যায় যেগুলো বিজ্ঞাপনে ভরপুর বা অন্য কোন search engine ব্যবহার করে।

নোট: Refresh Firefox ফিচার আপনার প্রয়োজনীয় তথ্য সংরক্ষিত রেখে Firefox কে প্রাথমিক অবস্থায় ফিরিয়ে নেওয়ার মাধ্যমে অনেক সমস্যার সমাধান করতে পারে। দীর্ঘ ও জটিল ট্রাবলশুটিং পদ্ধতি অবলম্বন করার আগে এটি চেষ্টা করে দেখতে পারেন।

শুধুমাত্র লোকেশন বার-এ করা অনুসন্ধানে সমস্যা হলে

লোকেশন বার-এ কিছু লেখা হলে Firefox ব্যবহারকারীর ইন্টারনেট প্রদানকারীর এর কাছে খোঁজ করে যে সেটি কোন ওয়েবসাইটের ঠিকানা কি না। যদি তা না হয় তবে Firefox তখন keyword.URL preference-এর search engine ব্যবহার করে (বিস্তারিত জানতে Search the web from the Address Bar দেখুন) অনুসন্ধান করে দেখে। কিন্তু বেশ কিছু ইন্টারনেট প্রদানকারী তা করার পরিবর্তে ব্যবহারকারীকে বরং নিজের অনুসন্ধান সাইটে নিয়ে যায়।

খেয়াল রাখতে হবে যেন keyword.URL preference-এ আপনার কাঙ্ক্ষিত অনুসন্ধান সাইটটি নির্বাচন করা থাকে, আর তা যেন চালু থাকে।

  1. address bar এ, টাইপ করুন about:config এবং প্রেস করুন EnterReturn।

    • এই about:config এ "This might void your warranty!" এই সতর্ক বার্তা প্রদর্শিত হতে পারে। about:config page এর সাথে থাকতে ক্লিক করুন I accept the risk!।
  2. ওপরের FilterSearch field বাক্সে keyword টাইপ করুন।
  3. খেয়াল রাখতে হবে যেন keyword.URL preference-এ আপনার কাঙ্ক্ষিত অনুসন্ধান সাইটটি নির্বাচন করা থাকে। এটিকে default অবস্থায় ফিরিয়ে নিতে preference-এর ওপর মাউসের ডান বাটন ক্লিক করে Ctrl কী চেপে preference-এর ওপর মাউসের ডান বাটন ক্লিক করে Reset নির্বাচন করুন।
  4. খেয়াল রাখতে হবে যেন keyword.enabledতে true নির্বাচন করা থাকে। যদি না থাকে তবে তার ওপর ডাবল-ক্লিচক করে true নিরবচন করে নিন।

Location bar-এ কোন কিছু লেখা হলে ইন্টারনেট provider-এর থেকে Firefox খোঁজ করে সেটি কোন ওয়েবসাইটের ঠিকানা কি না। যদি তা না হয় তবে Firefox তখন আপনার default search engine ব্যবহার করে (বিস্তারিত জানতে Search the web from the Address Bar দেখুন) অনুসন্ধান চালায়। কিন্তু বেশ কিছু ইন্টারনেট প্রদানকারী তা করার পরিবর্তে ব্যবহারকারীকে বরং নিজের অনুসন্ধান সাইটে নিয়ে যায়।

কিছু কিছু service provider "DNS Assistance" নামের একরকম সুবিধা দেয়; এটিই অন্য পৃষ্ঠায় নিয়ে যাবার (redirecting) কাজ করে। আপনার provider-এর থেকে খোঁজ নিজে দেখতে পারেন এই সুবিধা বন্ধ করা যায় কি না।

If you are unable to opt out from your service provider, the following workarounds may help you retain the ability to search from the location bar:

  • Only do multi-word searches from the Location bar. If you put multiple words in your search terms, Firefox will start with a Location bar search. You can often use a dummy word that is ignored by the search engine (such as the + character). For example, you will need to type + searchterm when the search term is one word (that space is important) but only search terms when the search terms are multiple words.
  • You can set up a smart keyword that corresponds to the search and prepend your search with this keyword. For example, you can use the keyword g to search Google. From then on, you would just have to type g searchterm to perform a search from the location bar.   • If you have a router, ask your ISP about changing your DNS server.

All searches are affected

If searching using the search bar and searching directly from the site itself are both being redirected to alternate sites, it is likely that this redirection is being caused by malicious software such as a virus, spyware or trojan installed on your computer.
