When I click on the left or right side of the new tab icon, I get 2 tabs instead of 1.
When I click on the left or right side of the new tab icon, 2 tabs open. This is incredibly annoying and I want to fix this.

So yeah it just randomly happens now.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
- Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
