Flash won't work despite trying everything
Recently all Flash content videos on all websites stopped playing in the Firefox browser running on my Vista 64 bit system. I have tried everything on the support forums and elsewhere that can be tried. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Flash and it is the latest and greatest version; I have refreshed Firefox; I have disabled the protect mode; I have made sure all the plugin and extension settings are as they should be and all to no avail. Every time I get the same message: "Your Adobe Flash is out of date."
I have used Firefox for over a decade, but if this continues I will be forced to adopt another browser - sad.

The issue here is that Flash 17 did not uninstall Flash 9 when it was installed. So Flash 9 is still getting used first, even though Flash 17 is also installed.
The solution is to delete the Flash v9 .dll file.
In your URL bar, type "about:plugins" and click enter. On the about:plugins page, find the entry for Shockwave Flash which says it is v9. Then look at the "path" line for that entry. It will look something like C:\windows\SysWOW32\Macromed\Flash\NPSWF32_9_0_0_169.dll
Navigate to the directory that the file is in, close Firefox, and delete the NPSWF...9..dll file. Then re-open Firefox. Now Firefox should be using the latest version of Flash.

Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac Then reinstall the latest version.
